Her Interview
Ten minutes with Kristina
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the people I have met and worked with throughout my career, as well as my willingness to learn, embrace new opportunities, and take on challenges. My career began with an internship opportunity encouraged by my sister and grew through various roles within insurance, account management, and organizational change management. I value collaboration and understanding people's individual circumstances, recognizing that successful change requires engaging stakeholders, addressing their needs, and helping them adapt to new ways of working.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I would share is to remain open to opportunities, keep learning, and be willing to step outside your comfort zone. My own career began with an internship encouraged by my sister, which opened the door to a long-term career in insurance and opportunities across different roles. This experience taught me that taking a chance on something new can lead to unexpected professional growth.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I encourage young women to give the insurance industry a chance, step outside their comfort zones, and never stop learning. Recognize your strengths, advocate for yourself, and remain open to opportunities beyond your initial expectations. The industry offers diverse career paths, from claims and account management to operations, technology, and change management and so much more! Build relationships, invest in your professional development, and stay curious because your career may lead you in directions you never expected.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in the insurance industry is keeping pace with technological advancements, including AI, while helping employees adapt to new systems and processes. I see an opportunity to bridge the gap between technology and people through effective communication, stakeholder engagement, and change management. My experience has taught me that successful implementation requires careful planning and collaboration. In one project, we merged two company technology environments in six to nine months instead of the typical 18 months, with minimal disruption. I hope to continue growing as a strategic leader who helps people embrace innovation while keeping people at the center of change.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are compassion, integrity, continuous learning, family, and community involvement. I believe in treating people with empathy and understanding, recognizing that everyone has unique circumstances and challenges. I value collaboration, adaptability, and making a positive difference in the lives of others. Whether supporting colleagues through organizational change or contributing to Peyton Smile, I strive to balance business goals with genuine care for the people affected by decisions and transitions.
