Her Story

About Krystal

Krystal Johnson is an entrepreneur and co-owner of Pretty Handy Home Helpers LLC, a Florida-based home services company built on the belief that homeowners should be able to make one call and find trusted help for nearly every part of their home. Through the company’s motto, “One Call Handles It All,” Krystal has helped create a business offering home improvement, repairs, renovations, cleaning, organization, design, and property services.

With more than a decade of hands-on experience in construction and home improvement, Krystal combines practical skill, problem-solving, communication, and a strong commitment to customer service. She earned an associate degree in Communications and Film from Daytona State College in 2012 and also completed professional training in several areas of healthcare before ultimately following her entrepreneurial path.

As a woman building a company in a traditionally male-dominated industry, Krystal has learned to turn challenges into opportunities to demonstrate her knowledge, leadership, and determination. Pretty Handy Home Helpers LLC has received the Neighborhood Fave Award on Nextdoor for two consecutive years as well as a Good Citizenship Award, recognition that reflects the company’s commitment to its customers and community.

For Krystal, entrepreneurship is about more than building a successful company. She believes a business should also make a difference. Pretty Handy Home Helpers contributes a portion of its resources toward helping families in need with essential home repairs, including critical projects that may otherwise be financially out of reach.

Krystal’s story is defined by resilience, resourcefulness, and the willingness to build from the ground up. She hopes her journey encourages other women to recognize that they do not have to fit a traditional mold to become leaders, learn new skills, create opportunities, and build something meaningful of their own.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Krystal

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to resilience, determination, a strong work ethic, and my willingness to keep learning. I have never been afraid to start from the ground up, take on challenges, or learn new skills when something needed to be done. I also believe my commitment to treating every customer with honesty, respect, and genuine care has been essential to building trust and growing Pretty Handy Home Helpers LLC. Most importantly, I have learned to turn setbacks into motivation and keep moving forward, even when the path was

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received came from my Nana, who lived to be 102. She taught me to never stop learning, never be afraid of hard work, and never let someone else decide what I am capable of. She believed that if you stay determined, treat people right, and keep going even when things get difficult, you can build a life you are proud of. I carry that advice with me in everything I do, both personally and professionally

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is this: do not wait for permission to belong. Learn everything you can, get your hands dirty, ask questions, make mistakes, and keep improving until your confidence comes from what you know you can do. You may walk into rooms where people underestimate you before you ever speak. Let that motivate you, not define you. Take up space, know your value, protect your reputation, and never shrink yourself to make other people more comfortable. There is room for women to lead, build, create, and succeed in this industry—and sometimes the best way to open a door is to build one yourself.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Biggest challenge is earning customer's trust because other companies rip people off, making customers hesitant. Opportunity is meeting new people and gaining knowledge from every customer.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Family, interpersonal relationships, and a steady foundation. Treating every customer's home as if it was my own, making customers feel like family, and seeing the happiness on their faces after a job well done.
