Her Story

About Latasha

Latasha Kirkland is a published author, creative writer, and app creator dedicated to encouraging personal growth and supporting the writing community. Inspired by her love of poetry, which began in childhood, she credits her fourth-grade teacher’s introduction to Maya Angelou as an influential moment in her literary journey. In January 2026, she published her first book, Enduring to Reach Your Purpose: Poems to Strengthen Youth Through Trying Seasons, a faith-based collection of 45 poems inspired by her experiences and spiritual awakening. The book was recognized as a finalist in the Inspirational Non-Fiction category of the International Impact Book Awards, and Kirkland was also named a finalist for Author of the Year in 2026.

Beyond publishing, Kirkland founded Chosen Line Writers, a writing community app designed to help writers share their work, connect with other creatives, access writing prompts, and discover information about grants and awards. She also created an AI-powered writing agent to assist authors with manuscript development. Her educational resources include a free writing playbook, a webinar, and a course featuring eight lessons and 20 exercises. In addition, she created Elevate Your Inner Growth, a devotional journal that reflects her interest in faith, reflection, and personal development.

Kirkland attributes her success to God and places great importance on faith, perseverance, self-belief, and leaving a meaningful legacy. She encourages aspiring writers, particularly young women, to trust their vision, give themselves grace, and remain persistent even when they lack support or face difficult circumstances. Looking toward the future, she plans to establish a foundation to support teen mothers through education, childcare, employment, transportation, college enrollment, and scholarships. Outside her professional pursuits, she enjoys working out and reading, activities that complement her commitment to continued growth and self-development.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Latasha

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to God, whose guidance and presence have been central to my journey and accomplishments.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have received is to give myself grace. I believe it is important to recognize that growth takes time, be patient with myself, and allow room to learn and improve throughout the journey.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I encourage young women to put God first, believe in themselves, and remain committed to their vision even when the people around them may not understand it. Do not allow your circumstances or lack of support to determine what you believe is possible. Keep moving forward, trust in your abilities, and never give up on your goals.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of my biggest challenges right now is securing enough people who believe in my vision and are willing to invest in my work. At the same time, I see opportunities to grow my writing community, expand access to creative resources through Chosen Line Writers, and use AI writing tools and educational content to help more writers develop their skills and complete their manuscripts.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Leaving a legacy is the most important value to me in both my professional and personal life. I want my work to have a lasting, positive impact and to create opportunities that can benefit others, particularly young people and teen mothers.
