Ten minutes with Laura

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to being willing to learn, embrace change, and step outside of my comfort zone. Over nearly 22 years with Hub Labels, I have welcomed every opportunity to grow, from starting in scheduling and developing a strong understanding of the printing and production process to leading customer service and ultimately transitioning into sales. Each role has given me valuable perspective, strengthened my ability to build meaningful relationships, and taught me the importance of understanding both the customer’s needs and the operational side of the business. I have never been afraid to take on a new challenge, even when it was outside what I originally envisioned for myself, and that mindset has allowed me to accomplish more than I once thought possible. In sales, I have exceeded my budget every year while continuing to build long-term customer partnerships and develop new business. I also take great pride in helping others grow, particularly those I have had the opportunity to mentor and support throughout my career. Ultimately, I believe my success comes from staying curious, working with purpose, building genuine relationships, and having the confidence to say yes to opportunities that challenge me to grow.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have received has come through the example and guidance of two remarkable women in my life: my mother and my close friend, Toni. My mother taught me the importance of resilience, perseverance, and having the confidence to follow my own path, regardless of the challenges or unexpected changes along the way. Her unwavering support throughout my education and career gave me the confidence to pursue opportunities that mattered to me, while her own strength during difficult transitions showed me the value of adapting, moving forward, and believing in myself. Toni has been an equally important mentor, providing thoughtful and practical guidance throughout my professional journey. I have been able to turn to her for perspective on career decisions, professional development, and personal growth, and her experience has helped me approach opportunities and challenges with greater confidence. Together, their influence has taught me to remain resilient, stay open to learning, trust my abilities, and never be afraid to pursue a new opportunity.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the industry is to dream big, work hard, and remain committed to your goals, even when the path becomes challenging. Throughout my career, I have experienced stressful and uncertain moments when I questioned whether I should pursue a different direction, but those experiences taught me the importance of perseverance and resilience. Challenges are inevitable, but they can also become valuable opportunities to learn, grow, and discover what you are truly capable of achieving. I encourage young women to believe in themselves, stay open to learning, and never let setbacks define their potential. If you remain determined, continue developing your skills, and refuse to give up on your goals, you can create the career and future you envision.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the greatest opportunities in my field is the ability to build meaningful, long-term relationships with customers. I believe successful sales relationships go far beyond providing a product or meeting a sales target; they are built on trust, consistency, communication, and a genuine understanding of each customer’s business and needs. At the same time, one of the biggest challenges is navigating an ever-changing business environment, where customer needs, budgets, market conditions, and packaging technologies can shift unexpectedly. These changes can make it challenging to achieve annual goals, but I view them as opportunities to adapt, think creatively, strengthen existing relationships, and pursue new business. My experience has taught me that challenges and opportunities often go hand in hand, and staying flexible, maintaining strong customer connections, and remaining focused on long-term growth are essential to succeeding in sales.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are faith, authenticity, trust, and honesty. My faith provides a strong foundation and helps me remain grounded, maintain perspective, and approach both challenges and opportunities with confidence and gratitude. I believe in being genuine with myself and others and understand that meaningful relationships are built through honesty, consistency, and reliability. Whether I am working with customers, supporting colleagues, or making personal decisions, I strive to lead with integrity and remain true to who I am. Outside of work, I value maintaining balance through activities that keep me active, creative, and continually learning. I enjoy reading, dancing, Zumba fitness, and painting, and I have recently embraced golf as a new opportunity to challenge myself and learn something different. These interests allow me to recharge while continuing to grow, explore, and make time for the experiences that bring fulfillment to my life.
