Q

What do you attribute your success to?

Lauryn attributes her success to the support of her family, the mentorship and opportunities she received through internships early in her career, and the invaluable lessons she learned as a public defender. These experiences shaped not only her skills as a trial attorney but also her commitment to mentoring the next generation of lawyers. She believes that resilience, compassion, and collaboration are the cornerstones of her practice, and credits her team and community for helping her build a firm that continues to grow in strength and impact.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice Lauryn received is to never be afraid to ask questions or try something new in the field. Growth comes from curiosity and a willingness to step outside your comfort zone.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the legal field is this: never be afraid to ask questions and try something new, even when it feels uncomfortable. Growth comes from curiosity and from being willing to step into the unknown. And remember that doing the right thing doesn’t always feel good in the moment. Sometimes it’s hard, lonely, or even misunderstood. But integrity, advocacy, and consistency are what build a lasting career and a respected reputation. Stay true to your values, even when the path isn’t easy, because that’s what ultimately sets you apart in this profession.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest opportunities in the legal field right now is juvenile justice reform. We’re at a turning point in how society views children in the justice system. Moving away from a purely punitive model toward one that recognizes their capacity for growth and rehabilitation. This shift allows defense attorneys to advocate not only in the courtroom, but also in shaping policies that give young people second chances and access to support services. There's still an immensely long way to go on this battle. The challenge is making sure those reforms are fully realized in practice, so that every child is treated with fairness, dignity, and the belief that their future is worth investing in.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me, both in my work and in my personal life, are integrity, compassion, and resilience. I believe in doing the right thing even when it’s difficult, treating people with empathy, and standing firm in the face of challenges. Justice and fairness guide my work as a defense attorney, while mentorship, growth, and family keep me grounded and motivated in all areas of life.
