Her Story

About Lewanda

LeWanda Jackson is a seasoned trust and fiduciary professional who has built a successful career helping high-net-worth individuals and families navigate complex trust administration and estate-planning matters. Currently serving as a Senior Manager with the JTC Group, she oversees the day-to-day administration of trusts, including distributions, tax considerations, and fiduciary oversight. With more than a decade of experience in the industry, she is known for her client-focused approach, strong leadership skills, and commitment to delivering exceptional service while maintaining the highest standards of trust administration.

Her path into the profession was anything but traditional. As a single mother seeking greater stability and work-life balance, Jackson pursued a corporate paralegal certificate through Widener Law after struggling to find fulfilling career opportunities. A connection made through a Delaware paralegal networking event opened the door to the trust industry, a field she had never previously considered. That opportunity proved transformative, allowing her to build a rewarding career while supporting her young daughter. Since then, she has steadily advanced through roles at organizations including UBS Trust Company, Bank of Montreal Trust Company of Delaware, New York Private Trust Company, Comerica Bank, and JTC Group, earning her MBA and Accredited Trust and Fiduciary Advisor (ATFA) designation along the way.

Beyond her professional responsibilities, Jackson is passionate about mentorship, education, and community service. She mentors students in the University of Delaware’s trust minor program and supports the development of junior professionals within her organization. She is also actively involved in the Delaware Estate Planning Council, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, and the Order of the Eastern Star, where she participates in scholarship initiatives and community outreach efforts. Guided by a desire to inspire others through both her career journey and service, Jackson continues to serve as a role model for professionals seeking growth, resilience, and meaningful impact.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Lewanda

01What do you attribute your success to?

I've been lucky to have some really great mentors along the way. There are too many to name but I am grateful for their mentorship and support. My most notable professional achievement has been getting this position. A former colleague of mine, reached out to me to say- I have this position open and I think you would be a really good fit for it. The fact that she believed in me and thought that I was right for this role is a big achievement for me. I wanted to be in leadership but was just waiting for the right opportunity. I also liked the fact that it was at a company I used to work for

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Never be afraid to ask questions.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Be a sponge and soak up as much knowledge as you can. Also, do not be afraid to advocate for yourself.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Inspiration. I do my best to inspire others and I love to mentor. I love being able to help shape someones career and watch them excel.

Community service is also an important value of mine.
