Her Interview
Ten minutes with Lillian
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my family. We come from a family of skilled tradespeople, and throughout the years, we have consistently supported and encouraged one another. Their work ethic, guidance, and unwavering support have played a significant role in shaping who I am and have been a driving force behind my personal and professional achievements.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to give something a genuine try before deciding it isn’t for you. Too often, people are intimidated by the possibility of failure and never take the first step. If you don’t try, you’ll never know whether you would have enjoyed it, succeeded at it, or discovered an opportunity that could have changed your path. Taking that chance, even when it feels uncomfortable, is often the key to growth and success.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to be willing to start wherever the opportunity presents itself and give your best effort from day one. You may begin in an entry-level role, but by working hard, staying curious, and taking initiative, you can quickly discover new opportunities and responsibilities. Get involved, learn as much as you can, and remain open to growth—you never know how far your dedication and determination can take you.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field has been my age, as I’ve advanced quickly in my career and am often younger than others in similar leadership positions. At times, this can create skepticism or intimidation among those around me, requiring me to continually prove my capabilities through my work. At the same time, I’m experiencing incredible opportunities, including the chance to lead Texas Legacy Florals and potentially become a part owner of the company, making this an exciting period of growth and advancement in my career.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are faith, integrity, and trust in God's plan. My faith is the foundation of everything I do, and I believe that opportunities and challenges unfold according to a greater purpose. I strive to approach each situation with gratitude, humility, and confidence, trusting that what is meant to happen will happen in its proper time.
