About Lina
Lina Agamez, MBA, is a senior healthcare executive and strategic organizational leader serving as National Senior Director of Operations, Organizational Learning & Knowledge Management at Sanitas Medical Center, a global healthcare organization headquartered in Colombia with operations in the United States. Based in Miami, Florida, she brings more than 15 years of healthcare experience and a proven record of leading strategic operations, organizational transformation, process optimization, and business growth. Agamez began her career as a billing supervisor at Mercy Hospital in Miami after earning her bachelor’s degree in Health Services Administration from Florida International University. She subsequently advanced through physician practice management and healthcare operations leadership roles, building a strong foundation in financial administration, revenue cycle management, compliance, patient experience, and organizational performance.
Throughout her career, Agamez has demonstrated a consistent ability to guide organizations through periods of growth and transformation. Her progression included leadership positions with HCA Physician Services, HCA Florida Mercy Hospital, and Jackson Health System, where she advanced from supervisor and practice management roles to Associate Director of Physician Practice Management. During her leadership with Sanitas, she helped support the organization’s expansion from three to nearly 50 locations, while overseeing operational initiatives involving staffing, physician practices, quality programs, revenue cycle management, training, and process improvement. In her current role, she focuses on organizational learning and knowledge management, leading physician education, employee development, management training, process optimization, and the implementation of technology and automation. She also supports national expansion and operational deployments as Sanitas continues to grow across U.S. markets, including Texas and Arizona.
Agamez holds an MBA in Management from the University of Miami and a Bachelor of Science in Health Services Administration from Florida International University, with a minor in Public Health. Her professional development includes healthcare financial management and executive leadership affiliations, as well as expertise in healthcare operations, strategic planning, continuous improvement, talent development, and organizational strategy. Bilingual in English and Spanish, she is committed to fostering collaborative teams and improving healthcare operations while maintaining a strong focus on patient care and community needs. Agamez attributes her success to the influence of her parents, whose example shaped her leadership philosophy and work ethic. 01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success largely to the influence and example of my parents. My father was a business attorney and entrepreneur from a young age, and he taught me the importance of leadership, initiative, and leading by example. My mother was the strong, steady support behind the scenes, providing encouragement and guidance throughout my journey. Their different but complementary strengths shaped my values, work ethic, and approach to leadership, and I credit both of them for helping me become the person and professional I am today.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have ever received is to pursue work that you genuinely enjoy and are passionate about. When you find something that truly motivates you, challenges become easier to navigate because you have a strong sense of purpose and commitment. Passion gives you the resilience to overcome obstacles, stay focused, and continue moving forward even when the journey becomes difficult.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering healthcare is to embrace the challenges while remembering that healthcare will always depend on the human connection, regardless of how far AI and technology advance. At its core, healthcare is about people, patients, and quality of care, so developing genuine connections with patients and the communities you serve is essential. For women pursuing leadership in this field, I encourage you to remain passionate, compassionate, and inspired by the opportunity to make a meaningful difference. If you hold on to that sense of purpose, healthcare can be an incredibly rewarding career path.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me, both professionally and personally, are ethics, honesty, transparency, and clear communication. I believe in treating people with respect while also being direct and honest, even when difficult conversations are necessary. I expect the same openness from my team because strong relationships are built on trust and mutual respect. These values guide how I lead, communicate, and interact with others, and I believe they are just as important in life as they are in the workplace.
