After nearly four decades of supporting executives and leading operations behind the scenes, I reached a season that required more of me than any previous role ever had.

When my contractor contract ended in January 2026, I expected the next chapter to unfold more quickly than it did. I had decades of experience, a clear professional identity, and a business I was actively growing. Still, the job search stretched longer than I anticipated.

There were strong interviews that left me hopeful, followed by silence. There were quick "thank you for your interest" replies that closed the door almost immediately and slower declines that left me waiting weeks, only to receive a polite but final no. Every morning began with prayer for clarity, wisdom, and open doors.

During that season, I kept building My Virtual Tender Touch. I updated my website, refined my messaging, and stayed consistent on social media—all to keep both myself and the business moving forward. Looking back, I can see that the same disciplines I offer my clients—systems, consistency, and quiet perseverance—were the very things that carried me through the waiting.

After months of searching, I recently stepped into a new opportunity. I believe this opportunity is part of what God designed for this season, giving me the chance to continue building a flexible, meaningful career from home. I get to support incredible clients, expand my skills across platforms, and be part of a team that truly supports one another—all while staying present for my family and my four grandbabies, who keep life joyful.

At the same time, I continue to welcome new opportunities through My Virtual Tender Touch.

This next chapter does not close the door on what I built; it expands it.

I am also mindful that I am entering a new season of life as I approach my sixties. Rather than slowing down, I am choosing to keep working with purpose—bringing decades of experience, a steady presence, and a deep belief that good support can lighten a leader's load.

Faith, consistency, and the willingness to keep showing up still matter. And sometimes, the chapter that takes the longest to arrive is the one that fits most clearly once it does.

After years of working, contributing, supporting leaders, solving problems, managing details, and helping organizations run more smoothly, there comes a moment when you may find yourself back in the job market. Executive assistants and operations partners are no longer only managing calendars, inboxes, and meetings. They are helping leaders protect their time, organize priorities, improve workflows, coordinate projects, document processes, manage systems, and create structure in fast-moving environments.

That kind of work requires more than technical skill. It requires awareness. It requires maturity. It requires the ability to see what is missing, anticipate what is needed, and bring calm to places where things feel scattered or unclear.

And still, even with years of experience, the job search process can feel discouraging.

Something is humbling about applying for roles and not hearing back. There is something difficult about receiving a rejection for work you know you are capable of doing well. There is something deeply personal about knowing your worth, while also trying to fit your experience into systems, keywords, filters, and application processes that may not fully understand the depth of what you bring.

But I believe this season is not about starting over.

It is about showing that steady leadership, operational clarity, and human judgment still matter, even as tools and technology continue to evolve. It is about understanding that AI can support the work. Still, it cannot replace the wisdom that comes from years of reading a room, supporting a leader, managing sensitive information, solving problems quietly, and knowing how to keep things moving when the pressure is high.

AI is changing the workplace, and there is no denying that. It is reshaping how people write, organize, research, summarize, automate, and communicate. For those of us in executive support and operations, the opportunity is not to compete with AI. The opportunity is to learn how to use it wisely while continuing to bring the human insight that technology cannot provide on its own.

Because experience still matters.

Professional judgment still matters.

Discretion still matters.

Clear communication still matters.

The ability to create order, build trust, and support people through complexity still matters.
