Lindsay S. is a Senior Account Executive at Calcium+Company in New York, specializing in relationship marketing, digital strategy, and integrated healthcare communications across the biotech and pharmaceutical industries. She is passionate about building meaningful connections between brands and audiences, with a strong focus on patient and healthcare professional engagement, campaign strategy, and social content development. Her work centers on translating scientific and healthcare narratives into clear, compelling, and audience-driven communications that build trust and make an impact.

Lindsay began her career through a fellowship with Ketchum Public Relations, part of the Omnicom Network, where she built a strong foundation in relationship marketing and learned how to bring campaigns to life across different types of clients. During her time at Ketchum, she worked on brands including Libby’s Vegetables, Tyson Foods, and Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield, gaining hands-on experience in digital strategy and brand communications. She also supported large-scale initiatives, including event execution and logistics for the Juventus US Summer Tour in Los Angeles. She discovered her love for the life sciences when working with her first pharma client, Afaxys.

After nearly three years, she transitioned full-time into life sciences communications, where she led digital strategy and social media across approximately 13 clients spanning early-stage to commercial clinical programs. She later joined Calcium+Company as an early member of the digital strategy team, helping shape and grow the practice. In late 2025, she transitioned into Account Services, where she continues to build on her expertise in client leadership, strategic communications, and cross-functional collaboration.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I would say self-advocacy is one of the biggest drivers in my career. Being able to speak up for yourself, your needs, and your goals, while still doing it with class, is really important. That is a big part of how I have gotten to where I am. At the same time, I have had so many people support me along the way. Every team and every agency I have worked at has taught me something different. Even the smaller businesses I have supported on the side taught me what it really means to have a strong work ethic and to be thoughtful about how you spend your time. A lot of my drive also comes from my family, especially my mom. Watching her build a business while also being an advocate for my sister had a huge impact on me. My family has been a constant support system and has shaped how I approach both my work and my goals.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I have ever received is to focus your energy on what you can control. Even if you are a passionate person, it is easy to get caught up in things that go wrong, whether it is a missed opportunity, a mistake, or a difficult conversation. When you step back and look at the bigger picture, especially in healthcare communications, it reminds you why you are doing the work in the first place: to bring value to patients and healthcare professionals alike. That perspective has helped me stay grounded and move forward, even during more challenging moments.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I am a big believer in saying yes to opportunities, even when it feels a little uncomfortable. Sometimes it is a confident yes, and sometimes it is more of a situation where you are not completely sure how to do something yet, but, you are willing to learn. Those moments are usually the ones that push you forward the most. Taking risks can feel scary in the moment, but when you look back, those are often the decisions that helped you grow. Staying comfortable does not move you forward in the same way that stepping into something new does.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

AI is a big topic in our industry right now, and there are really two sides to it. There is the concern that it could take away jobs, and then there is the opportunity to use it to work more efficiently. I tend to see it as a tool that can help us be more effective and give us more time to focus on strategic thinking, which is where we add the most value. At the same time, healthcare, biotech, and pharmaceutical communications are constantly evolving. There is always new information, which can make it difficult for people to know what to trust. That is why it is so important to stay informed, think critically, and encourage people to ask questions and do their own research instead of just reacting to headlines.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Authenticity is very important to me. I do my best work when I can be myself, and I value working with people who show up the same way. I also believe in staying positive and determined. There are always challenges, but keeping perspective and continuing to move forward makes a difference, not just for yourself but for the people around you. At the end of the day, we are all just trying to do our best. Leading with empathy, staying resilient, and focusing on what you can control really matters.
