About Lorraine
Lorraine Vicio is a healthcare professional serving as Outreach Manager at Muir Wood Adolescent & Family Services, where she focuses on connecting adolescents and families with behavioral health resources and residential treatment options. Based in Walnut Creek, California, she partners with hospitals, therapists, psychiatrists, schools, and community organizations throughout the East Bay to help teens ages 12–17 access appropriate care for mental health and dual-diagnosis needs. Her role centers on building trusted relationships, coordinating referrals, and strengthening community partnerships to support families navigating complex healthcare decisions.
Before joining Muir Wood, Lorraine built a strong foundation in healthcare operations, growth strategy, and care coordination through her six-year career at Pine Park Health. As Growth Operations Manager, she led strategic initiatives, supported new market launches, improved operational processes, and helped expand healthcare access across multiple regions, including California, Arizona, Las Vegas, and Reno. She also held roles in community success, onboarding, and care navigation, where she developed expertise in relationship management, workflow improvement, and supporting patients and healthcare partners.
Lorraine earned her bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from San Francisco State University and began her career with a passion for helping others through healthcare and community-focused work. She attributes her success to being the oldest of nine children, which shaped her critical thinking skills, sense of responsibility, and commitment to being a positive role model. Guided by values of integrity, compassion, connection, and continuous growth, Lorraine believes in building meaningful relationships by consistently providing value and supporting others through every stage of their journey.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a love of learning, a willingness to embrace challenges, and strong critical-thinking skills. As the oldest of nine children, I learned the value of responsibility and leading by example, and my family continues to motivate me to be someone they can be proud of. I believe success is built through consistency—showing up every day, building strong relationships with families, and making a positive impact through dedication and service.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
People do business with people they know, like and trust. Especially in healthcare, relationships aren't built by asking for something every time you reach out. They're built by consistency, showing up, providing value and being someone that people can rely on. Never stop being curious.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't feel like you have to have your career to be successful, build and invest in relationships, reach out to people. Stay curious; grow always to challenge and improve as a person and professional. Your career doesn't have to look like a straight line to be successful. Invest in relationships, build your network before you need it. Be curious, ask those questions.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges is helping families navigate through a very complex mental health system. Insurance is a huge factor. Making sure that we can help them go through that whole process and feel like they have someone they can trust. Building awareness so we're showing up as a reliable resource. Opportunity: mental health is finally becoming more of an open conversation. Families and schools are recognizing the importance of early intervention.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity, compassion. Integrity: people can trust me to follow through. Connection: meaningful relationships at the center of success. Growth: always looking for new ways to challenge myself. Compassion and empathy especially in vulnerable conversations with families.
