Her Story

About Louisa

I manage team management, making sure the team is staying on top of everything they're supposed to be doing and staying in line with deadlines. I also do one-on-one consulting, so I work with people who are startups or people who have started their business out of a passion but are kind of stuck on how to grow. I have a 12-week one-on-one program where I meet with them bi-weekly and discuss where they're at, where they're trying to go, and then we hash out the details of their operations and what actually needs to happen for them to streamline their businesses. Day to day, things vary - sometimes there's team drama I have to deal with, sometimes I'm building a CRM, or sometimes I'm just really being there for one of my clients who is extremely stressed and trying to scale. My success is purely based on my empathetic nature and my ability to think outside the box. I'm able to come in and ask the hard questions - I ask about any disabilities I should know about, not because I'm trying to be nosy, but because I need to adjust my strategy for you. For example, do you have ADHD? Because if you have ADHD, I have to adjust my strategy to fit your needs. I like to break the barrier and just talk about what it is that you need, and I adjust accordingly.

01What do you attribute your success to?

My success is purely based on my empathetic nature and my ability to think outside the box. Sure, you can be a great operations person and just focus on the systems and fixing things, but if you don't care about people, then you're kind of missing the point in the work. I'm able to come in and ask the hard questions, and even in my intake form, I'm asking things like, hey, any disabilities I should know about? Not because I'm trying to be nosy, but because I need to adjust my strategy for you. An example - do you have ADHD? Because if you have ADHD, I have to adjust my strategy to fit your needs. If not, it's not gonna work. So I like to just break the barrier and just be like, okay, let's just talk about what it is that you need, and I adjust accordingly.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Be true to who you are. Your personality dictates what kind of career you excel in, so I am a fiery person. I'm very relational. I love people, but if there's a problem, I have no problem addressing it, which makes me a great operations manager, administrator, all that stuff. It doesn't make me a good admin assistant who just kind of sits and just does what she's told to do. I've never excelled in that, because if there's a problem, I want to fix it. And when you're not in a position of management, you can't necessarily just go and fix things and do what you're designed to do. So I always tell people, find a career that aligns with your personality, because that's what helped me tremendously, and staying true to who you are helps you prevent burnout, and it actually makes you feel joy in work. I do believe that you can have joy in the work that you do. Now, every day is not going to be rainbows and unicorns, but you can still find a sense of purpose and a bit of joy in the midst of the chaos.
