Her Story
About Marcella
I currently operate with my team at Windows Cloud as an external contractor, and this would be my fourth year going into it next year. I manage a team of about 5 different people, and every single day we come into work ready to solve different challenges. We're really here to help provide end-to-end support for whatever's needed for the go-to-market process. My main area of expertise is go-to-market operations and product management, bringing narratives to life and helping to tell the story of products. There is no typical day because every single day can be completely different. It can look like creating general marketing assets, L100 to L300 technical content, creating FAQs, connecting the dots between business planning and marketing. It's a lot of different marketing activities to bring to life the different products that we're launching around Windows and AI. I've worked really hard to build a team that works and build processes and strategies that work. I've created a full staffed team that focuses on different areas. I work on Tier 1 launch planning, I have other folks on my team that do Tier 2, Tier 3, I have a content manager, I have a designer and a writer. I've really worked to create an end-to-end service desk that provides support to our Windows and AI product marketing managers. At every company that I've ever been at, I always hit my metrics and then some. I always am the one receiving bonuses and always getting recognitions for really scaling the business and helping to upsell. I have a really good relationship with my clients. Every time I'm brought on to a team, I really become a trusted consultant. Usually a relationship with a vendor, you're kind of treated as an external support system, but I've really worked to embed myself in every single team that I've been on.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my parents. I'm a first-generation American. My parents are both Mexican, and they've always been really hardworking. My dad moved to New York when he was young with just $200 in his pocket. Same with my mom, she's just been through so much, and she is just always reinventing herself. She worked in sales, and then halfway through her career decided, hey, I want to be a teacher. She's always finding opportunities to grow and change and evolve. Just watching my parents, how they came to this country, and they learned the language, and they always wanted to drive, and learn more, and be better. They have always been people who are so drawn to education, and so it's something that I really value as well. They've always been in big cities, and they've made it work, even without knowing anybody. We don't have any family members in the U.S., and so I knew that I just had to make it work the same way. I don't have another option.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I think the best career advice I have in mind is that it's a small world, and you never know who you're going to need to reach out to, so it's important to stay connected, it's important to build your network, and it's important to support each other. It's always important to help folks in your network find opportunities. You never know when you're going to need support from somebody else. So always, always, always important to stay connected and do the best that you can in every single engagement, because you have no idea how it could connect you to your next opportunity.
