About Maria
Maria Marcon is a board-certified counselor with over 12 years of experience in the counseling and psychology field. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, she earned her bachelor's degree there before pursuing further education in the United States. She obtained a master's degree in hospitality management from the University of Central Florida and a master's degree in psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University. Additionally, she holds a certificate in evidence-based coaching and a certificate in training and development from Lewis University. Maria specializes in Mental Health EAP Counseling and operates her own private practice alongside two colleagues. Her passion for helping others stems from a deep desire to see individuals overcome obstacles and thrive, which she applies through compassion and empathy in her work. She also dedicates time to pro bono counseling and volunteers with Meals on Wheels and Catalytic Charities. Maria advises aspiring professionals in her field to know themselves well, work from the heart, and focus on making a difference in people's lives rather than financial gain.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Get to know yourself really well. Learn about yourself, work through those things that you feel interfere in the workday. Importantly, do it from the heart and because you mean it. And then making a difference in other people's life, right? We're not in this career field for the money. We're in this career field for making people's lives better.
