Her Story

About Marielle

Marielle Lugay serves as Regional Manager for the Nevada office of OCMI Inc, previously known as O'Connor Construction Management. In this role, which she has held since October 2025, she oversees the company's cost estimating, scheduling, and project management service lines. Lugay entered the construction field in 2014 after a serendipitous start as an operational engineer apprentice with the 501 Union, where she worked on maintenance engineering projects at Luxor Hotel and Casino. She earned her bachelor's degree in project management from the College of Southern Nevada following earlier studies in accounting and architecture. Lugay attributes her success to her Christian faith, which provides her with a positive and grateful perspective, and to the strong support of her family, particularly her mother. She values productivity, purpose, and contributing to community improvement projects such as schools and community centers in the Las Vegas Valley. Among the career advice she follows is the principle that there are no problems, only solutions, which guides her decision-making. Her primary challenge is maintaining balance to sustain long-term stamina in her work without burnout.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Marielle

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would attribute my success really to my faith. I'm a Christian and it has allowed me to have a perspective that's positive and grateful. Also a good family support system like my mom who is always encouraging and teaches me about life.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice would be that there are no problems, there are only solutions. And I think that has governed about every decision-making whether big or small.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is finding that sweet spot between being efficient and burning out. It's more so just self-regulating and keeping up my stamina because I want to be here for a very long time.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

In my work life, what I value the most is being able to do what I love to do, feeling productive, and feeling a sense of purpose. I love that I'm able to work on projects that really do improve the community... In my personal life, what I value is just feeling a sense of contentment in my life with where I'm at, feeling a sense of gratitude with the things that I am able to do, and feeling a sense of acceptance on the ones that I don't have control over.
