Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to stamina, perseverance, and maintaining a positive mindset. I strive to stay true to myself and focus on goals that align with my values and bring genuine fulfillment. A key part of my growth has also been developing emotional intelligence, which has helped me become more self-aware, patient, and composed, especially during stressful situations. This has not only improved how I handle challenges but also strengthened my ability to support and guide others more effectively.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career guidance I’ve received comes from several mentors who have shaped my professional journey, including judges I worked with as a judicial delegate, Dr. Carlos Velasquez, with whom I co-authored a book, and various political figures in New York. While their advice varied, the consistent themes centered on integrity, discipline, and the importance of serving others through my work. Their mentorship has reinforced for me the value of staying committed to excellence, building meaningful professional relationships, and approaching every opportunity with purpose and responsibility.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would advise young women entering my industry to start by preparing a strong resume and to simply get started without overthinking the process. It is important not to be discouraged by rejection, as many doors may close before the right opportunity opens—and when it does, it can lead to something more lasting and meaningful. The working world is complex, so you have to push through doubt and pessimism, stay optimistic, and be open to learning from every experience and “aha” moment along the way. Above all, persistence is key—because persistence truly pays off in the long run.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges is standing out in a highly saturated digital and creative space. However, this also presents opportunities to build a unique personal brand, share authentic stories, and connect with audiences through multiple platforms.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are optimism, purpose, and health. I believe in looking at life with more purpose than ever, especially after overcoming challenges like my recent battle with sciatica, which I was able to fully recover from. That experience made me appreciate life in a different fashion and continue to be optimistic. I've embraced the philosophy of Stoicism, which has given my life more meaning. I also value staying healthy and doing research into what makes people healthier and helps them stay healthy. I'm very conscientious about health now, believing that you are what you eat. I love cooking middle-of-the-road gourmet meals focused on body maintenance and wellness. I also value being open-minded and accepting of all cultures, which I experience through my travels. There's nothing more important than growing as a person and becoming more prolific in different areas, and traveling allows me to assimilate things from other cultures that are needed in our own society.
