My formal education began at Warsaw University, where I studied Law and Administration. At the time, I saw education as preparation for a profession - a foundation that would give me knowledge, discipline, and direction.

Years later, after building a business and working with professionals across many industries, I see education very differently.

A university degree is an important beginning, but some of our greatest education happens after we leave the classroom.

Studying law and administration taught me how to think analytically, pay attention to details, understand structure, and look at a problem from more than one perspective. Those skills became valuable far beyond the legal field. They followed me into entrepreneurship and into the language-services industry, where clear communication, accuracy, responsibility, and understanding people are essential.

For more than 20 years, I have worked in the language-services industry and developed LNG Consulting, working with interpreters and translators as well as professionals in the medical, legal, insurance, and business communities.

Running a company became another kind of university.

I learned about leadership, negotiations, client relationships, technology, regulations, financial decisions, and, perhaps most importantly, people. There is no textbook that can completely prepare you for the decisions you make as a business owner.

You learn by doing!

You learn from success, but sometimes you learn even more from challenges.

Education Creates Independence

One of the things I value most about education is the independence it gives us.

For women especially, knowledge creates choices. Education gives us the confidence to participate in important conversations, build careers, start businesses, advocate for ourselves, and create opportunities of our own.

But I no longer define education only by diplomas.

I believe in continuing to read, travel, study, ask questions, meet people from different cultures, and remain interested in subjects outside of my own profession.

Curiosity is one of the most powerful forms of education.

What I Want the Next Generation to Know

As a mother of two girls, I also look at education from another perspective.

We naturally want our children to succeed academically, but education is about more than grades. Young people need to learn how to think independently, communicate well, solve problems, adapt, and recover when something does not go exactly as planned.

I especially want young women to understand that they do not need to have their entire lives planned at eighteen or twenty-two.

Your education may lead you somewhere completely different from where you originally expected.

Mine did.

I studied law and administration, yet my professional journey eventually led me into entrepreneurship and an industry centered on language, culture, communication, and connecting people.

And the education I received was never wasted. It became part of the foundation that helped me build everything that came afterward.

Never Stop Being a Student

Earlier in my life, I thought education was something you completed.

Today, I believe it is something you continue for your entire life.

University gave me a foundation. Business gave me experience. Travel gave me perspective. Motherhood gave me another way of looking at the future. And the people I have met along the way have taught me lessons I could never have learned from a book.

I am still learning.

And perhaps that is the message I would most like to share with other women:

Never become too successful, too experienced, or too comfortable to remain a student of life.

A diploma may close one chapter of your education.
