Meghan Stafford is the Founder of The Stafford Standard LLC, an accounting and advisory firm serving real estate investors, private equity groups, and ownership entities. With more than 15 years of experience in real estate financial operations and strategic financial management, Meghan launched her firm in October 2025 after spending eight years in public accounting and one year in private industry. What began as a bold entrepreneurial step quickly exceeded expectations — the firm grew to a team of seven within its first year.

The Stafford Standard provides outsourced accounting and financial management for clients with complex portfolios and operations. Much of Meghan's work centers on reviewing property-level financials managed by outside property management companies, helping portfolio owners gain clarity, consistency, and confidence in their reporting. She often describes her role as "bridging the gap between ownership and property management."

Before founding her firm, Meghan held leadership and accounting roles with Tourmaline Capital Partners, Moss Adams, Mengali Accountancy, and Kosta Browne Winery, specializing in financial reporting, compliance, forecasting, audit coordination, acquisitions and refinances, payroll oversight, and operational process improvement across large real estate portfolios.

Meghan earned her Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Golden Gate University and completed a Human Resources Management Certificate through the University of Nevada, Reno — both while working full-time.

Her passion for accounting comes from an appreciation for precision, structure, and problem-solving. She values that accounting offers clarity and accountability — believing there is always one correct answer to uncover. Equally important to her is the opportunity to help people. She understands that many business owners feel overwhelmed when it comes to their financials, and she is committed to helping clients understand the numbers behind their businesses so they can make informed decisions with confidence.

The loyalty of her clients speaks for itself — many of the investors and operators she worked with for six to seven years chose to follow her when she launched her own firm.

Guided by her Christian faith and grounded in integrity, discretion, and excellence, Meghan continues to build a firm known for elevating financial operations through accuracy, insight, and accountability. Beyond real estate, The Stafford Standard also serves clients in the equine industry — a niche that comes naturally to Meghan, who has been riding and showing reining horses for over 25 years. That firsthand understanding of the industry allows her to speak her equine clients' language and address the unique financial complexities they face.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I'm persistent, and I genuinely care about getting my clients the right answer. I don't just do the baseline — I try to bring value in places a typical accounting firm wouldn't even think to look. The clients I work with today are people I've worked with for six or seven years going back to my time in public accounting. When I launched my own firm, every one of them wanted to continue working with me. You can't buy that kind of loyalty — you earn it by leading with integrity and showing up consistently.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received was to go back to school and get my degree. I got my bachelor's in my late 20s and my master's in accounting in my late 30s — all while working full-time. I don't know that I necessarily learned more in the classroom than I did on the job, but having those credentials opened doors. It gave me access to firms and positions that let me gain the experience I wouldn't have gotten otherwise.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Find a place with good management — people who will actually invest in you. That matters more than the name on the door. My boss at the CPA firm where I spent seven and a half years shaped my entire career. The managers there poured into me, and I wouldn't be where I am today without that.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge right now is that there are so many technology solutions out there, and I think people get wrapped up in chasing a new platform for every problem they face. Instead of stepping back and looking at the numbers holistically — what's the story they're telling, what decisions do they drive — firms and clients are jumping from tool to tool hoping the software will give them the answer. Technology is only as good as the person interpreting what comes out of it.

But that's also where the opportunity is. When everyone else is distracted by the next shiny platform, there's a real opening for firms that can slow down, understand the data, and provide answers that actually move the needle. Clients are craving that — someone who can cut through the noise and tell them what their numbers actually mean for their business. That's where advisory separates itself from just doing compliance work, and I think firms that lean into that are going to be the ones that thrive.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity — that's the one that drives everything for me, professionally and personally. I don't believe in selling services a client doesn't need. But the flip side of that is most of my clients don't even know what they need when they first start working with me. So it comes down to honest conversations — being straightforward about where they are, what they actually need, and what's going to make a real difference for them. That's what integrity looks like in this industry. It's not just about doing good work — it's about doing the right work
