Dr. Michelle Jones Singer is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist with more than 25 years of experience in women’s healthcare and surgical practice. I began my medical journey through traditional OBGYN training and early private practice, where I quickly recognized that my perspective on women’s health required a more focused and individualized approach than what I was able to provide in a shared practice model. That realization ultimately led me to establish my own independent practice, built intentionally from the ground up to center women’s voices, concerns, and lived experiences.

Over time, my work evolved into cosmetic gynecology and functional women’s health, with a focus on procedures such as vaginoplasty, labiaplasty, and the treatment of complex vulvar and vaginal conditions, including pelvic pain, anatomical discomfort, and sexual health concerns. I regularly see patients who come to me after quietly living with insecurity, pain, or unanswered questions about their bodies. My approach is rooted in creating a safe, judgment-free space where women feel comfortable speaking openly—often for the first time—about issues they have not felt able to discuss with partners, friends, or family.

At the core of my practice is a commitment to restoring comfort, function, and confidence so women can fully engage in their lives without physical or emotional limitation. I believe every patient deserves to be heard, understood, and offered real solutions that address both their medical and quality-of-life concerns. Whether in the operating room, in consultation, or through public education, my goal remains the same: to provide care that is honest, compassionate, and centered entirely on the woman in front of me.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the unwavering support of my husband, who has been my backbone throughout my career. His encouragement has made it possible for me to fully commit to my work, manage a demanding schedule, and continue growing both personally and professionally. Having that level of support at home has been essential in allowing me to pursue the depth and focus my specialty requires.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is to take things one day at a time, focus on perfecting my skill, and not allow fear to dictate my decisions. I was also taught to keep moving forward—one step at a time—and to always prepare thoroughly. That mindset has helped me stay grounded, especially in a field that requires precision, confidence, and continuous learning.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this field is to believe in and trust yourself. Invest time in learning—read extensively, stay curious, and never stop building your knowledge base. I also encourage thorough preparation for every procedure, consultation, and interaction, including reviewing details such as pre-operative plans and patient information. Confidence is built through preparation and consistency.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is the internal work of investing in yourself and fully believing that your expertise and perspective have value, especially when practicing in a less common or highly specialized area. Being a solo practitioner can also present challenges in terms of visibility and support. At the same time, there are significant opportunities, particularly in expanding public education around cosmetic gynecology, engaging in keynote speaking on women’s health and quality of life, and growing media and communication platforms that help bring greater awareness to this area of care.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are respect for patients, deep listening, and rigorous preparation. I believe in listening not just to respond, but to truly understand what each patient is experiencing. I also place a high priority on being fully prepared in every aspect of my work, as it reflects both respect for my patients and commitment to excellence in care.
