Mildred J. Culbreath
Mildred Culbreath is a third-year JD candidate at Regent University School of Law, Class of 2026, where she serves as President of the Black Law Students Association and as a Student Staff Member for the Center for Global Justice. She is also an active member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Board and was selected to represent Regent Law at the William & Mary School of Law Negotiations Competition in Spring 2025. Mildred’s academic journey reflects a deep commitment to justice, service, and equitable conflict resolution, recognized through honors such as the Dean’s Merit Scholarship, the Abigail Johnston Award, and a scholarship to attend the American Arbitration Association Diverse Student ADR Summit in New York. Her diverse educational background—including a Master of Arts in Human Rights and the Rule of Law, a Bachelor of Science in Biology (Pre-Med), and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science—enables her to bridge science, policy, and law in her advocacy and problem-solving.
Mildred’s path to law has been shaped by a lifelong dedication to advocacy, nurtured through ten years of caregiving for her parents in South Carolina. This formative experience inspired her interest in estate planning and public service and now informs her leadership and volunteerism. She creates children’s ministry content for her home church, engages in community advocacy through her internships with the Legal Aid Society of Eastern Virginia, and develops practical skills in client support, judicial processes, and dispute resolution. In addition to her legal work, Mildred contributes to Regent University as a Graduate Assistant at the Law Library and independently produces digital media, demonstrating a unique ability to combine creativity with meaningful community engagement.
Outside of law school, Mildred enjoys spending time at the beach with friends, incorporating regular Bible study into her visits, and pursuing creative projects that connect and uplift others. Her long-term goal is to pursue a career in the nonprofit sector, using her legal training to expand access to justice and ensure that underserved populations are supported and heard. Driven by compassion, leadership, and a passion for service, Mildred is committed to building networks of care, amplifying voices, and fostering equitable solutions through both law and community engagement.
