About Mishay U.

Mishay Benson is a customer experience and operations leader known for building people-centered onboarding strategies that drive growth, retention, and long-term business impact. As Director of Customer Onboarding at SambaSafety, she leads teams focused on helping customers successfully adopt and maximize complex SaaS solutions within the risk management and safety industry. With more than a decade of experience spanning customer success, technical support, operations, and healthcare administration, she has developed a reputation for creating scalable systems, cultivating strong leadership teams, and delivering onboarding experiences that place the customer at the center of every decision. Passionate about the connection between operational excellence and human connection, Mishay believes onboarding is far more than a process — it is a powerful engine for trust, value creation, and sustainable growth.

Her educational journey began at Central New Mexico Community College, where she earned a business degree with the original goal of launching a food service and catering business. After briefly attending the University of New Mexico, she shifted her focus toward personal development, leadership, and communication. Determined to strengthen her ability to influence and inspire others, she pursued certifications in professional speaking through Jeremy Anderson and mental performance coaching through Dr. Caroline Leaf. Mishay believes that investing in communication, emotional intelligence, branding, and personal growth has been just as impactful as traditional education in shaping her career and leadership style. Her commitment to continuous learning has allowed her to bridge operational strategy with empathy, helping both customers and teams navigate change with confidence and clarity.

Before joining SambaSafety, Mishay held leadership and program management roles with Molina Healthcare, where she supported large-scale reporting initiatives, training programs, and healthcare operations across New Mexico. Since joining SambaSafety in 2018, she has steadily advanced through multiple leadership positions, including Customer Success Manager, Team Manager of Customer Success, Senior Manager of Escalations, and Director of Customer Operations before assuming her current role. Known for her people-first mindset and passion for leadership development, she is deeply committed to helping others grow personally and professionally. Outside of her corporate leadership work, Mishay is an advocate for mental wellness, resilience, and intentional living, often sharing insights about recovery, mindset, and workplace well-being. Guided by faith, discipline, and a desire to create meaningful impact, she continues to inspire teams and customers through authentic leadership and a relentless commitment to service.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Mishay U.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute much of my success to the strong support system I’ve had throughout my life. Growing up with entrepreneurial parents who owned businesses taught me resilience, determination, and the mindset that opportunities are always within reach for those willing to work for them. I’m also deeply grateful for the mentors who guided me through business and technology, especially as a woman in industries where representation has traditionally been limited. Their encouragement helped me develop the confidence to trust my abilities and pursue ambitious goals without hesitation.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

One of the most valuable pieces of career advice I’ve ever received is to “think like the CEO and work like an entry-level employee.” That perspective has stayed with me throughout my career because it emphasizes both leadership and humility. I believe true success comes from maintaining a strategic, big-picture vision while also being willing to put in the hard work, stay hands-on, and remain committed to execution at every level.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to women entering technology, transportation, or any traditionally male-dominated industry is simple: there is already a seat at the table for you. You do not need permission to belong or to lead. I encourage women to invest in themselves, continue learning, trust their instincts, and recognize the immense value they bring to their industries. Confidence, preparation, and persistence can open doors that once seemed unreachable.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges—and at the same time, one of the greatest opportunities—in my field is the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence. Working in technology, I see AI adoption as something organizations can no longer ignore. The pace of innovation is extraordinary, and staying current requires continuous learning and adaptability. While the speed of change can be demanding, I’m excited by the possibilities AI creates for improving efficiency, innovation, and the way businesses operate.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide both my professional and personal life are consistency, faith, and grit. I believe consistency is what allows people to achieve long-term success, especially when others give up too soon. Faith serves as the foundation of who I am and keeps me grounded through every season of life. Grit is what pushes me forward during challenges, reminding me to persevere even when circumstances become difficult.
