About Mona

Mona Abeyta is a nationally certified Pilates instructor, educator, entrepreneur, and the owner of Pilates By Mona, a boutique studio in Queen Creek, Arizona. With more than two decades of experience in Pilates and fitness, she specializes in post rehabilitation, and has helped clients of different ages, abilities, and conditions build strength, mobility, and resilience. Her journey into Pilates began after a knee injury, which led her to discover the discipline during college. She completed comprehensive training through the Fletcher Pilates™ Program, dedicating more than 1,000 hours to mastering the art and science of movement, and holds a certification through the National Pilates Certification Program. Before dedicating herself fully to Pilates, Mona built a successful 25-year corporate career with Discover Financial Services, where she advanced from Instructional Design Manager to Senior Manager of Learning Strategy. Her background in learning strategy, instructional design, and curriculum development has become an important foundation for her work as a Pilates educator. At Pilates By Mona, she provides private and small-group sessions incorporating the Reformer, Tower, Chair, Ped-a-Pul, and Bodhi Suspension System. She also offers wellness education, nutrition guidance, and active-lifestyle mentorship. Mona is passionate about sharing her knowledge, mentoring others, and creating opportunities for the next generation of Pilates instructors through Iron Sharpens Iron Pilates Training, a teacher-training program she developed to provide foundational education in Pilates principles, movement anatomy, breath work, class design, and teaching methods. A graduate of Arizona State University with a B.A. in Communication, graduating cum laude with honors, and attended a Masters program at Grand Canyon University, she brings both business expertise and a deep commitment to movement education to her work. Outside of her professional life, Mona enjoys working out, hiking, crafting, fine dining, and spending time with friends and family. Her core values are; Faith (God 1st), Family (always be there) , Fitness (Honor and protect your temple) , Friends (Be a good friend) and Finance (Manage your economy by blessing others). These values remain central to the way she lives and leads her life and business.

Ten minutes with Mona

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my faith, passion for my work, sense of purpose, and determination. I am deeply motivated by the desire to make a meaningful difference in people’s day-to-day lives, and that purpose continues to drive me forward.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is to pursue work you genuinely love. When you are passionate about what you do, your work becomes more fulfilling and success comes more naturally.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Know your purpose, create a clear plan, and be strategic in pursuing your goals. Seek out a trusted mentor or coach, stay connected to them, and surround yourself with people who challenge you, inspire you, and bring expertise beyond your own.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges is staying current in my niche while managing a full-time studio and developing a teacher training program. Since COVID-19, there have been significant changes in physical and neurological health, creating both challenges and opportunities to continue learning, adapting, and supporting others effectively.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are captured in my Five Forces of Fulfillment: Faith, Family, Friends, Fitness, and Finance. I prioritize my faith, being present for my family and nurturing meaningful friendships, while caring for my physical well-being and managing my finances responsibly so I can also bless and support others.
