About Morgan
My career in the building industry spans almost 11 years across different capacities, and it's definitely a male-dominated industry where I'm often one of the only females in L10 leadership meetings. I started with property management right after college, doing remodels, new construction, lease-ups, and working with preferred employers like hospitals and warehouses to offer incentives. Then I moved into the home building industry with Lennar and MI Homes, where I did two brand new divisions for both of them. During my time as regional director of marketing for Georgia and Alabama with Lincoln Property Company (now Willow Bridge), I really got to help develop Huntsville, which was nothing but raw land at the time, and create these pocket cities within the city near an amphitheater that one of the brothers from Mumford & Sons financially backed. I watched Huntsville turn around for the better in what was like a regentrifying project, and that market is booming right now - the FBI relocated 500 employees there the following year. Now I'm in a new adventure as head of marketing for Soleil Construction Partners and their five other entities - shell and drywall companies for production builders, commercial, and shell and drywall. I actually interviewed with one of their small companies, Dual Construction, originally for a VP of Sales position, but they realized they needed a marketing department and didn't have one, so after a four and a half month interview process where they even 1099'd me to do a very intense project and presentation, they decided they wanted me to build it out. I really believe in the company and the actual core values that they have - not a lot of companies operate the way that they do, and that was the biggest thing for me. Right now I'm building out the entire marketing department for all of these companies, from brand awareness to brand cohesiveness, because it's hard to have one parent company when people only know maybe two of the more prominent smaller companies. I handle all digital marketing, all events (I just had my very first large event, the second annual Builder's Appreciation Day), community outreach activities, sales assets like pamphlets and flyers, trade show booth designs, photography, videography, and I'm currently creating the back end for the CRM system that will allow a lead to have a life cycle and nurture sequence. Really, you name it, I handle it.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Ask as many questions as you possibly can. Know the product that you are marketing - take the time to learn it. Sadly, not necessarily from a man's perspective, but from a man, so you can kind of mansplain it and then rephrase it how you would like to. Take the time asking the questions and learning the actual core of what you're marketing, whether it's foundations, shell, or whatever. Really just ask questions, get out there, and know what you're serving and what you're doing before you even start marketing. Networking is the biggest thing - I'm very big on LinkedIn, and my sales agents like to tell me that I'm LinkedIn famous, but it's just a joke. Definitely never quit networking, and never turn off your brain to that point where you don't learn anymore and you just have the knowledge that you have. Never turn off that learning component, because you can always learn something new every single day, whether it's from someone behind you in line at the gas station or from anyone.
02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
What makes me happiest is serving others and knowing that I've made a difference in some way, shape, or form at the end of the day with someone's life that I've come in contact with. I'm a huge people pleaser - that's one of my problems. I like to be a people pleaser, I like to help people, and I tend to put everyone before myself, and I'm okay with that. I think what makes me happiest is serving others. I'd rather be able to motivate other people and be able to make them smile at the end of the day, and if I've done that in some way, shape, or form, I'm happy. I really believe in core values - not a lot of companies operate the way that Soleil Construction Partners does, and that was the biggest thing for me in choosing to work there.
