Natalie T. Lorenz is Deputy General Counsel at The Bank of Missouri, a position she has held for the past two years. In this role, she provides strategic legal leadership while ensuring that processes for both customers and employees remain fully compliant with regulatory standards. Known for her practical, solutions-driven approach, Natalie advises senior leadership on complex legal, regulatory, and operational matters, oversees litigation strategy, manages outside counsel, and structures and negotiates contracts to advance the Bank’s business objectives. Her guidance has been instrumental in aligning legal frameworks with the Bank’s strategic initiatives, mitigating risk, and fostering operational excellence.

Prior to joining The Bank of Missouri, Natalie spent 11 years in private legal practice, most recently as a shareholder at Mathis, Marifian & Richter, Ltd. She managed a diverse civil practice focused on litigation, estate planning, and corporate law, and led the firm’s Perryville, Missouri, office operations. Among her most notable professional accomplishments, Natalie contributed to a high-profile case that reached the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals, showcasing her expertise in appellate litigation. She graduated Valedictorian from Southern Illinois University School of Law in 2012 and earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with distinction from Southeast Missouri State University in 2008 with a 4.0 GPA, achievements that reflect her dedication to academic excellence. In recognition of her professional contributions, she has been honored as an Emerging Lawyer.

A native of Perry County, Missouri, Natalie is deeply committed to community engagement and the advancement of women leaders. She serves as President of the Perry County Community Foundation, is a board member of Impact 100 Perry County, and is a founding member of Flourish: Perryville Women’s Leadership Collective, which fosters mentorship, networking, and empowerment for women in leadership. Inspired to pursue law following a formative internship experience, Natalie credits mentors such as Alice Noble-Allgire, Sue Liemer, Pat Mathis, and Mark Schuver for shaping her career and leadership philosophy. She continues to champion mentorship, professional development, and community service, creating meaningful impact both within her profession and across her community.

I attribute my success to the strong female role models who have inspired and guided me throughout my journey. Their example has taught me the value of perseverance, confidence, and leadership, and I strive to carry those lessons forward in both my personal and professional life.

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to always do your best work, because dedication and quality eventually pay off. Focusing on excellence in every task has shaped my professional growth and opened doors I never expected.

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the industry is to keep your options open. Explore different paths, stay curious, and be willing to adapt. Sometimes the opportunities that shape your career the most are the ones you didn’t initially plan for.

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges and opportunities in my field right now is navigating constant changes in regulations and industry standards. Staying informed and proactive during these times is essential to remain compliant, adapt effectively, and turn challenges into opportunities for growth and improvement.
