Her Interview
Ten minutes with Nathalia
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to never giving up and always knowing I was going to make it despite facing many hardships after arriving in the United States. I never gave up on anything I put my mind to, even when going through difficult times.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I received is that if you don't know something, just fail until you learn how to do it. The best way to learn is by failing multiple times. When I first started in construction with no experience, I made many mistakes but learned from them and now believe I can learn anything with the right mindset.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would encourage young women entering my industry to embrace mistakes as an essential part of the learning process. Every challenge and setback is an opportunity to gain experience, build resilience, and continue growing both personally and professionally. Stay open to learning, trust your abilities, and view obstacles as stepping stones toward success.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The construction industry offers tremendous opportunities as it continues to grow, especially with the increasing number of development projects in my area. However, it also comes with challenges, including working in a traditionally male-dominated field where women remain underrepresented in leadership roles, training new employees who may have limited experience with construction materials, and ensuring accuracy through strong attention to detail to prevent costly delays. I believe that overcoming these challenges requires continuous learning, adaptability, and a commitment to delivering quality work that keeps projects moving forward.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me most in my work are respect and integrity, as I believe these qualities are essential for building strong, trustworthy, and lasting professional relationships. In my personal life, I value consistency, patience, and resilience because I believe that meaningful success is built over time. Achieving goals requires persistence, faith in the process, and the willingness to continue moving forward despite challenges along the way.
