Nicolette Hylan-King is a seasoned writer, editor, and marketing strategist with over 15 years of experience in higher education and the nonprofit sector. Currently serving as a Content Strategist and MarCom Writer/Editor for the American Technion Society, Nicolette blends her passion for storytelling with her expertise in communications and fundraising. Her work supports mission-driven organizations by crafting compelling narratives that inspire connection, generosity, and impact.

A proud graduate of Penn State University, where she earned her master’s degree in English Language and Literature, Nicolette also holds dual bachelor’s degrees in English and Women’s Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Over the course of her career, she has honed her skills in writing, editing, marketing strategy, and public relations, becoming known for her empathetic leadership and thoughtful approach to communications.

Beyond her professional life, Nicolette is a published author whose memoirs and poetry explore motherhood, mental health, and spirituality. She is a devoted mother of two daughters, Charlotte and Chelsea, and a passionate animal lover who shares her home with a rescued pit bull, Arya. Through every chapter of her life — professional and personal — Nicolette remains guided by authenticity, creativity, and a deep commitment to meaningful connection.

I attribute my success to the amazing mentors who've helped me hone my craft as a writer and navigate corporate spaces with grace.

Check your ego at the door. Life is a classroom, and we all have more to learn.

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would advise young women entering the field of marketing — or any field — to seek out mentors, as guidance and support from experienced professionals can make all the difference.

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

As the founder of Resume Baddie, a venture that empowers job-seekers — especially women — to craft winning resumes, I love helping individuals achieve their career goals. A challenge today is writing resumes that make it through AI scanners!

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are creativity, family, and connection to nature, and I cherish expressing myself through poetry and spending time with my daughters, Charlotte and Chelsea, and my amazing partner, Bret.
