01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to believing deeply in what I do and having the persistence to keep moving forward, even when faced with setbacks. When I left a successful six-figure career in IT to pursue a career in insurance, many people questioned my decision and some even laughed at me. However, I never allowed doubt or criticism to discourage me.

I firmly believe that success comes from believing in the value you provide, not simply chasing a paycheck. When you are passionate about your purpose, it gives you the strength and motivation to show up every day and continue growing, even during difficult times.

Throughout my journey, I have built my career around four core principles: being trustworthy, dependable, reliable and approachable. I strive to be a patient listener because people want someone who genuinely understands their concerns and takes the time to help them find solutions.

Although I faced challenges and obstacles along the way, including skepticism from people within my own community, I remained consistent and committed to my goals. That consistency, combined with a genuine desire to help individuals, families and business owners protect what matters most, has been the foundation of my success.

Today, I am proud to help people better understand their insurance and financial protection needs, giving them confidence and peace of mind for the future.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Success is not just about how far you go; it's about how many people you help along the way. Lift others as you climb.

That advice became especially meaningful when I made the decision to leave a successful six-figure career in IT and transition into the insurance industry. Many people questioned my choice and some even doubted my ability to succeed. However, I learned that when you truly believe in the value you provide and remain committed to your purpose, outside opinions matter less.

I've also learned that persistence is often more important than talent. There will be setbacks, rejections and challenges, but consistency and resilience are what ultimately set successful people apart. Showing up every day, continuing to learn and staying focused on helping others can make all the difference.

Throughout my career, I have followed four core values: being trustworthy, dependable, reliable and approachable. These principles have helped me build meaningful relationships and earn the trust of the people I serve. At the end of the day, success is not just about achieving personal goals, it's about making a positive impact and helping others protect what matters most.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the insurance and financial services industry is to believe in yourself, trust your abilities and never underestimate the value you bring to the table. This industry offers incredible opportunities to make a meaningful difference in people's lives, but success doesn't happen overnight.

Focus on building knowledge, credibility and strong relationships. Be willing to learn continuously, ask questions and seek out mentors who can guide and support your growth. Don't be discouraged by rejection or setbacks, they are part of the journey and often become your greatest learning experiences.

Most importantly, stay authentic. People do business with those they trust. Listen carefully, lead with empathy and always put your clients' needs first. When you genuinely care about helping others and remain consistent in your efforts, success will follow.

As women, we often juggle multiple responsibilities, but those experiences also make us resilient, compassionate and strong problem solvers. Embrace those qualities with confidence. Your voice, perspective and leadership are needed in this industry and you have the power to create a lasting impact in the lives of the people and communities you serve.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in the insurance industry today is helping people understand the importance of protection before a crisis occurs. Many individuals and families recognize the value of insurance only after experiencing an unexpected loss, illness, or life-changing event. Educating clients about the need for proper coverage and long-term financial protection continues to be both a challenge and a responsibility.

At the same time, one of the greatest opportunities in our field is the ability to reach and serve a broader and more diverse population. As communities grow and evolve, there is an increasing need for trusted advisors who can simplify complex insurance concepts and provide personalized solutions that fit each client's unique needs and goals.

Technology is also creating exciting opportunities to enhance the customer experience through improved communication, faster service and greater access to information. However, while technology can make processes more efficient, relationships remain at the heart of this business. People still want guidance from someone they trust, especially when making important decisions about protecting their families, homes, vehicles and businesses.

For me, the greatest opportunity lies in educating and empowering individuals to make informed decisions that provide financial security and peace of mind for the future. By combining technology with a personal, relationship-driven approach, insurance professionals can create a lasting impact in the communities they serve.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide me in both my professional and personal life are trust, integrity, dependability, compassion and service. I believe that lasting relationships whether with clients, colleagues, family or friends are built on trust and earned through consistent actions.

Throughout my career, I have focused on being trustworthy, reliable, approachable and someone people can count on. I believe in listening with patience and empathy because understanding a person's concerns is the first step toward helping them find the right solution. In the insurance industry, people are often making important decisions that affect their families, homes, businesses and financial futures, so it is essential to approach every conversation with honesty and genuine care.

On a personal level, my experiences as a mother, caregiver and community volunteer have reinforced the importance of compassion, resilience and giving back. I am passionate about supporting and mentoring others, particularly within immigrant and underserved communities, because I believe success becomes more meaningful when we help others succeed as well.

Above all, I strive to lead with integrity, treat everyone with respect and make a positive impact wherever I can. These values not only shape how I work but also define who I am as a person.
