About Nydia
Nydia Silvera is a healthcare and financial services professional whose career spans more than two decades, beginning in 2000 when she started as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Over the years, she steadily advanced through the nursing ranks into director-level leadership, eventually transitioning into a role with a medical device company that keeps her closely connected to hospital operations. Originally from Jamaica, Nydia brings the perspective of an immigrant who built her career from the ground up, and she credits much of her drive to a natural instinct for helping others paired with unwavering family support.
In addition to her clinical and administrative background, Nydia has spent the past several years expanding into financial services, earning her Life and Health Insurance License through the Nevada Division of Insurance. She holds a Master's degree in Nursing Administration from Western Governors University and a BSN from State College of Florida-Manatee-Sarasota, giving her a strong academic foundation that complements her hands-on industry experience. This blend of healthcare expertise and financial acumen led her to launch Essential Health and Financial Wellness, a venture designed to teach young professionals, especially those in healthcare, about financial literacy, retirement planning, and long-term wealth building.
Driven by a passion for education and mentorship, Nydia focuses much of her energy on empowering young healthcare workers and women to take control of their financial futures. She believes strongly in the value of perseverance, noting that meaningful success rarely happens all at once but instead comes from steady, sustained effort over time. 01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my natural instinct to help others, combined with steady persistence that carried me from my early days as a CNA all the way to director-level positions. The unwavering support of my family and my refusal to quit, even when things got difficult, have been the foundation of everything I've achieved.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I've received is that life is long, and you should never quit. Things don't happen all at once, and it's important to keep moving forward, trusting that persistence and patience will eventually pay off.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I encourage young women to educate themselves about finances as early as possible. Understanding retirement savings, protection strategies, and how to make your money work for you are essential steps. I'd also urge them to plan their careers intentionally and protect their financial future right from the start.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges I see is the lack of financial literacy among young healthcare professionals, many of whom overlook retirement planning and protective financial strategies. At the same time, I see this as a real opportunity — to build accessible financial education and community outreach that helps close that gap.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Family comes first for me, both in my personal life and in how I approach my work. I'm deeply committed to helping and teaching others, making a tangible difference in people's lives, and I believe perseverance is what ties all of that together.
