About Nytia
Nytia J. Jenkins is an art educator, professional artist, and teaching assistant dedicated to using creativity as a tool for learning, self-expression, and community impact. She recently completed her Master of Arts in Art and Art Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, building upon a lifelong passion for the arts that began in childhood. As the first person in her family to attend and graduate from college, Nytia’s educational journey reflects perseverance, determination, and a commitment to personal and professional growth. Currently, Nytia serves as an Assistant Teacher with the Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York, where she supports young learners through engaging, hands-on, and sensory-based art experiences. Her approach to art education focuses on encouraging creativity, exploration, and meaningful connections through activities designed around themes such as nature and marine life. With decades of experience as an artist, she has collaborated with galleries internationally, had her work featured in art publications, and earned copyright recognition for one of her original artworks. Beyond the classroom, Nytia continues to develop her artistic practice while advocating for the importance of arts education and representation in the visual arts. Her work is guided by values of authenticity, honesty, faith, and maintaining a positive mindset through challenges and transitions. She hopes to inspire future generations of artists and educators by encouraging others to embrace their individuality, believe in their abilities, and use their talents to create meaningful change.
