About Pamela
Pamela Steffey Nelson is a strategic media executive, creative director, and brand storyteller with more than 20 years of experience leading complex content organizations through transformation, growth, and high-pressure news environments. As Director of CNN-US Weekend Programming at Warner Bros. Discovery, she oversees cross-platform programming strategy, audience engagement, and breaking news coverage across television, streaming, digital, and social platforms. Known for her calm decision-making, strategic vision, and ability to translate complex information into compelling stories, Pamela leads large, cross-functional teams while fostering collaboration, innovation, and professional growth.
Throughout her distinguished journalism career, Pamela has held leadership roles across major media organizations, including CNN, The Weather Channel, WBZ-TV in Boston, and WXYZ-TV in Detroit. She began her career in local news and advanced through editorial and production roles, ultimately becoming an executive producer responsible for shaping influential programming and managing coverage of major national and international events. At The Weather Channel, she led the development of Forecast Earth, one of the first nationally recognized climate change programs, and at CNN she guided teams behind award-winning news coverage and audience-focused programming initiatives.
Pamela holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Media Studies and English and Literature Studies from Western Michigan University and is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration at Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business. Throughout her career, she has been guided by the belief that successful leadership is built on kindness, empathy, adaptability, and a commitment to developing others. Passionate about the future of media and storytelling, Pamela continues to combine creativity, business strategy, and executive leadership to build meaningful connections between organizations, audiences, and communities.
