Renita Gladney
My professional journey spans more than a decade in Human Resources, workforce operations, and people-centered leadership across healthcare, aviation, retail, manufacturing, and corporate environments.
I began my career as a Certified Nursing Assistant, a role I held before a personal caregiving experience within my family that further shaped my perspective on compassion, service, and supporting others with dignity. That foundation led me to pursue higher education and build a long-term career in Human Resources.
I hold a Bachelor of Applied Science in Human Resources Management from Indiana Wesleyan University, along with an Associate of Arts degree in Business and Psychology from Holmes Community College. These academic foundations supported my transition into HR and strengthened my understanding of both organizational systems and human behavior.
Throughout my career, I have served in progressive HR and operational leadership roles, including Human Resources Coordinator, HR Manager (Contract), Operations Manager in aviation, and Project Manager supporting large-scale retail transformation initiatives at Walmart Inc. In these roles, I developed deep experience in employee relations, workforce planning, compliance, performance management, and organizational change within high-volume, fast-paced environments.
Today, I serve as a Community Advisory Member with Summerwood Estates, where I contribute to discussions focused on operational improvement and resident experience. As someone who lives within the community I serve, I am committed to ensuring that resident voices are heard, valued, and reflected in decision-making processes.
My long-term goal is to continue growing in leadership and transition into a board position, where I can move beyond advisory work and directly participate in shaping and implementing meaningful community outcomes.
In addition, I am currently studying for my real estate license, which I believe will further expand my ability to serve, connect, and advocate within my community.
Family remains a central influence in my life and in the decisions I make, grounding my leadership approach in integrity, service, and purpose.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my family. They were the start of it all, and they shaped and molded me into the woman I am today.
I believe that when you become a mother and grow into being a woman, you begin to understand that you have a purpose. But there are certain moments and experiences in life that truly make you see it for yourself. My family helped me see myself differently. They helped me realize that I have purpose, goals, and dreams worth pursuing—not only for myself, but to create a better future for my family as well.
My family has truly been the backbone of it all. They gave me something no one else really can: unconditional love, support, motivation, and the drive to continue striving to be better every day.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received was to never underestimate the power of relationships, integrity, and consistency. Skills may open doors, but character and how you treat people determine how far you go.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Go in with an open mind. Be open to the setbacks and the challenges that may come your way. Everyone is not always going to agree with you, and you have to be willing to accept that without becoming judgmental. Listen to what others have to say, learn what you can, and allow yourself to grow from every experience.
Be a sponge and absorb as much knowledge as possible. Never be afraid to ask questions or continue learning.
Also, don’t be afraid to take a break when you need one. I’m a big believer in work-life balance because when you wear so many hats, it’s easy to become overwhelmed. Taking care of your mental health is important, and sometimes simply talking to someone can make a difference. Give yourself grace, take care of yourself, and remember that growth is a journey.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Right now, a big challenge—and opportunity—is just finding the right fit. When people and companies are aligned in values, expectations, and how they work, everything runs smoother and people tend to do their best work.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
That would be respect, accountability, integrity matter most to me.
