Juggling Leadership, Life and Love

If you were to look at the coat rack of my life, you would see a collection of hats that don't seem to belong in the same room, let alone on the same person. There is the high-visibility gear of an aviation crew member trained to tow massive aircraft, the tailored blazer of a Senior HR leader, and the deeply personal, irreplaceable roles of wife, mother, grandmother, auntie, sister, daughter, and friend.

To an outsider, it might look like a journey marked by sharp turns. But the reality is that so many of us are doing the exact same thing every single day: juggling leadership, life, and love. We seamlessly switch between roles that demand entirely different versions of who we are.

For me, that balancing act—and the character required to pull it off—started in one specific place.

The Foundation: Where Character Was Built

Before the boardrooms, the corporate strategies, or the flight lines, my journey truly began as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). If you want to talk about where true character, humility, and resilience are forged, it is at the bedside.

Being a CNA is a masterclass in human dignity. In that role, you see humanity at its most vulnerable, and you learn very quickly how to show up for people when they need you most.

It was during those long, demanding shifts that I developed the core of who I am as a leader. I learned how to listen to what wasn't being said, how to advocate fiercely for others, and how to remain steady in high-stress situations. You cannot successfully coach, guide, or hold people accountable in a corporate setting if you don't understand them at a fundamental human level.

The empathy and grit I developed as a CNA became the bedrock of everything that followed.

Grit, Precision, and Corporate Accountability

From that foundation of care, life took me into unexpected territories that added new dimensions to my leadership style. Transitioning into aviation—literally towing and pulling multi-ton aircraft across a roaring tarmac—taught me a different kind of strength.

It required hyper-awareness, respect for massive systems, absolute accountability, and the sobering understanding that small missteps can have major consequences.

When I ultimately moved into Human Resources and executive leadership, I realized I hadn't left those worlds behind; I had synthesized them. HR is the ultimate intersection of grit and grace. It requires the structural precision and safety-first accountability of the flight line, balanced with the deep empathy and human advocacy of caregiving.

Today, my approach to leadership and coaching extends far beyond what any textbook could teach. When I coach leaders, help teams navigate change, or drive organizational accountability, I draw from a lifetime of understanding what makes people tick, what keeps them safe, and what motivates them to grow.

The Anchors That Matter Most

Yet, the professional titles are only half the story. The most demanding, rewarding, and important hats I wear are the ones woven into the fabric of my home as a wife, mother, grandmother, auntie, sister, daughter, and friend.

I would be remiss if I didn't acknowledge the profound influence of my parents. They played a significant role in shaping the way I make decisions today. Through their example, I learned the importance of integrity, hard work, personal accountability, and treating people with dignity and respect. Long before I held positions of leadership, they taught me that character is revealed in the choices we make when no one is watching and that how we treat others matters just as much as what we accomplish.

Managing a corporate restructure or navigating a busy flight line requires skill, but building a life alongside a partner, raising a family, anchoring multiple generations, and showing up consistently for the people you love—that is where true leadership is tested and proven. It teaches you the ultimate lessons in compromise, time management, boundaries, and unconditional support.

We are rarely just one thing. Every single hat we wear—whether given to us by a corporation or by the people who call us family—carves a groove into who we are. Each role informs the others, creating a unique mosaic of experience that makes us better leaders, better professionals, and more compassionate human beings.

The truth is, none of these roles exist in isolation. The compassion I learned as a CNA strengthened my leadership in HR. The precision I developed in aviation sharpened my decision-making. The love and responsibility I experience within my family keep me grounded in what matters most.

Each hat has shaped me. Each experience has refined me.

And together, they tell the story of who I am becoming.
