Her Story
About Rhonda
Rhonda Norris is a small business consultant based in Morristown, Tennessee, now in her fifth year of building a consulting practice devoted to strengthening the operational foundations of small businesses. Her work centers on the administrative backbone of running a company — from designing accounts receivable systems and conducting fraud analyses to structuring budgets around balance sheets, cash flow, and profit-and-loss statements, and shaping marketing strategies that help owners identify their target markets and track growth. Rather than positioning herself as an added cost, Rhonda encourages business owners to see her guidance as an investment in the long-term stability of their companies.
Before stepping into consulting, Rhonda built a career as a serial entrepreneur, gaining hands-on experience across commercial and real estate photography, a rapidly growing cleaning business, and administrative work within a family enterprise. She also co-founded and led a nonprofit organization for twelve years, an experience that deepened her understanding of leadership and community impact. She holds a bachelor's degree in Human Ecology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and went on to earn her MBA, with a concentration in Human Resources Management, from Carson-Newman University, later completing an accreditation program to become a Certified Small Business Consultant.
Rooted in her Christian faith, Rhonda believes every individual carries distinct gifts meant to be cultivated, and she brings that philosophy into her client relationships by leading with transparency, honesty, and kindness. She remains active with her local chamber of commerce and devotes time to volunteering within her community, reflecting the same values of service and connection that guide her professional work. Navigating a male-dominated field, Rhonda credits her steady progress to consistency, and she encourages the next generation of women entering the industry to define who they want to serve, stay focused, and keep moving forward even when the path feels slow.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Rhonda
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my faith in Jesus Christ and the belief that every person is placed on this earth with unique gifts and talents. My work is about appreciating people, helping them discover what makes them special, and guiding them to develop that within their business. I'm grateful that every day allows me to do something different.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I ever received was simply to keep going. Consistency is the key to success — you don't have to be the smartest person in the room, but you do have to show up consistently, day after day.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I'd tell young women entering this still male-dominated industry to keep at it. Identify who you want to serve, go after them, and don't give up. Stay connected, stay consistent, and stay focused on your goals — the results will come.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge, and opportunity, is reaching the people who need help and earning their trust. I want business owners to understand they don't have to go it alone, and that building a professional team around themselves is essential. Part of my work is also shifting the mindset that consultants like me are an expense, when in reality, we're an investment in their business.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Transparency and honesty, delivered with kindness, are central to how I operate. Giving back matters deeply to me as well — I stay active with my chamber of commerce and volunteer my time in the community. I'm grateful for where I live and for the people around me.
