Her Interview

Ten minutes with Sandra

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to God. God has been the source of my wisdom and strength. People ask how I manage everything alone and I get that wisdom from God. Before I do anything, every day I ask for help and strength from the Lord.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice comes from the school of hard knocks. To be successful, pursue wisdom and knowledge before doing anything. Learn the business strategically before entering it. Be patient and allow the business to grow. Never confuse difficult seasons with failure. Practice credibility.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Learn the business thoroughly and seek counsel from those with experience. Be educated as much as you can and be wise. Commit decisions to God, do not shut God out of your daily decision making.. Take fear out of your life because you already have confidence. Do not fear mistakes as they help you learn. You do not need acceptance from others to walk in your God-given destiny.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges I face as a publisher is securing adequate funding to grow and expand the business. Outsourcing printing services is expensive and significantly reduces profit margins. My long-term goal is to acquire in-house printing equipment, which would help reduce production costs, improve profitability, and give me greater control over the printing process. However, the significant capital investment required makes this difficult at present.

As a result, limited funding also affects how much I can invest in advertising, marketing, expanding our reach, and exploring new growth opportunities. While I remain passionate about the vision and mission behind Encounter the Glory Magazine, access to adequate financing would enable me to scale the business more effectively, reach a wider audience, and build a stronger, more sustainable publishing operation.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Credibility and integrity are critical. I must accurately represent contributors' experiences and respect how they want their stories portrayed. Faith in God is central, providing wisdom and strength. Patience and learning from difficult seasons are key.
