Currently serving as Principal Regulatory Affairs Specialist and Labeling SME at Integrated DNA Technologies, Shala leads global labeling strategies, ensuring compliance with complex international regulations. Her expertise in quality management, regulatory standards, and process optimization allows her to guide cross-functional teams, mentor junior staff, and streamline labeling operations while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and compliance.

Shala’s academic achievements complement her professional expertise. She recently earned an MBA in IT Security Management from Strayer University, graduating with high distinction and maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA. Her studies have strengthened her leadership, strategic thinking, and analytical skills, which she applies daily to regulatory projects and team development. 01What do you attribute your success to?

God. Hard work. Wanting to leave this world better than when I arrived.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Work hard. Be curious. Ask lots of questions. Network. Realize that there’s much to learn from others and you have a lot you can share as well. It is a team effort and you have to be a team player. Be passionate about your work and what you put your time into. Strive for excellence.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Whatever it is that you’ve set as your goal, go after it relentlessly. Stay focused. Let people help you along the way. Work hard but be balanced and well rounded. If you are afraid, do it anyway.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The regulatory landscape is always changing, especially with the introduction of machine, learning, artificial intelligence, and globalization. Staying on top of regulatory intelligence, and the changes in the industry can be challenging so it’s important to constantly monitor the change is happening and stay at the ready and agile to make those changes.
