Her Story

About Shannon

Shannon Jones serves as Director of Corporate Accounts at Print Works in the decorated apparel industry. She has been with the company for 8 years, advancing from Customer Service Representative to Corporate Accounts Manager to her current position about 5 years ago. Her responsibilities include order processing, assisting customers with apparel decoration choices such as print colors and types suitable for specific garments, and quoting orders. Prior to Print Works, Shannon spent 5 years at Aldi, progressing from shift lead to General Manager of a store. Most of her professional knowledge comes from hands-on training and learning on the job. She attributes her success to the support and faith of leaders including Taylor Martin, owner and CEO Stephen Terrell, as well as following established processes, noting that process discipline equals success. Shannon values maintaining balance between work and personal life, seeking help from leaders when needed, and she advises taking communications with a grain of salt to avoid misinterpreting tone in emails and texts. She encourages young women entering the field to try it out, as every day in decorated apparel brings something different.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Shannon

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the backing and help from Taylor and Stephen Terrell, our owner and CEO. Their faith and belief in me to take this program and run with it has been key. Also, following the processes set in place by our owner. Process discipline equals success.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've received is to take everything with a grain of salt. A lot of what I do is through email and text, so try not read too much into the tone of what you're getting because it's probably not what you're thinking it is.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Just get out there and try. You never know if you're gonna like it until you do. In the decorated apparel world, it's always something new. Every day is different and is almost never the same.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Maintaining balance so that work is not taking over personal life or vice versa. Going to leaders when I need backup and always asking for help, even though I'm terrible at asking for help.
