About Shannon

Shannon Tyne McQuarter, RN, is a registered nurse, wellness entrepreneur, and Doctor of Nursing Practice–Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (DNP-PMHNP) candidate with more than 20 years of clinical and leadership experience across acute care, behavioral health, community health, and healthcare leadership. Throughout her nursing career, Shannon has cared for individuals during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. Those experiences shaped a profound understanding that healing extends far beyond treating disease. True wellness emerges when emotional health, physical well-being, identity, relationships, and personal purpose are addressed together.

Inspired by this philosophy, Shannon has dedicated her career to helping people build healthier, more intentional lives. After entering her master's Program in Leadership at The George Washington University, she expanded her focus beyond healthcare administration to creating organizations and programs centered on prevention, resilience, and lifelong well-being. Together with her husband, A well decorated U.S. Marine Corp veteran and Founder of Dsweatbox LLC, a wellness organization that combines fitness with the psychology of sustainable lifestyle change to help individuals achieve lasting health transformation. She is also the founder of The Aligned Mind, a wellness and personal development platform dedicated to emotional well-being, self-awareness, and purposeful living. Through educational programs, coaching, speaking, and future digital resources, Shannon's vision is to help individuals cultivate emotional resilience, strengthen relationships, and live lives that are fully aligned with their values.

As she continues her doctoral education in psychiatric mental health, Shannon's also expanding her practice to aesthetic nursing. Her long-term vision is to integrate psychiatric mental health, lifestyle medicine, wellness and aesthetic care into a comprehensive approach that supports confidence, healing and whole-person transformation. Through clinical excellence, entrepreneurship, and community service, she remains committed to empowering others to achieve lasting wellness from the inside out.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Shannon

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the values my mother instilled in me from an early age. She taught me never to let anyone take away my smile, to find joy in the little things, and to remain present rather than dwelling on the past. Those lessons became the foundation of how I approach both life and my career. Over the years, I have also learned that meaningful growth rarely happens within our comfort ones. Every challenge, setback, and season of uncertainty has stretched me in ways that ultimately made me stronger. I believe success is not defined by the absence of adversity, but by the willingness to learn, grow, and continue moving forward with integrity, purpose and gratitude.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received was to be intentional about the people I allow to influence my life. The individuals we surround ourselves with shape our mindset, expand our perspective, and often determine the opportunities we are willing to pursue. Throughout my career, I have found tremendous value in building relationships with people who challenge me to grow, inspire me to think differently, and encourage collaboration, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Success is rarely achieved alone; it is cultivated through meaningful relationships with people who bring out the best in one another.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering healthcare is to first become the person you hope to inspire in others. Invest in your own health, emotional well-being, and personal growth with the same commitment you give to your patients. Lead with integrity, remain curious, and never stop learning. Live the lifestyle you encourage others to pursue and consistently align your actions with your values. Authenticity builds trust, and when people see that you genuinely embody what you teach, your influence extends far beyond your credentials.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the greatest challenges in healthcare today is that we often treat symptoms without fully addressing the underlying factors that shape long-term well-being. Mental health, physical health, relationships, purpose, and lifestyle are deeply interconnected, yet they are frequently addressed in isolation rather than as part of the whole person.

I believe one of the greatest opportunities is to advance more integrated, person -centered care that empowers individuals to actively participate in their own health and healing. By combining evidence-based clinical care with prevention, education emotional well-being and sustainable lifestyle practices, we can improve not only health outcomes but also resilience, fulfillment and overall quality of life.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity is the foundation of everything I do. I strive to live in alignment with my values, knowing that authenticity builds trust both personally and professionally. I believe true wellness begins from the inside out, which is why I prioritize balance, self-awareness, and continuous growth in every area of my life. I also believe we cannot effectively care for others without first caring for ourselves. My goal is to model the same compassion, accountability, and commitment to well-being that I encourage in those I serve. Ultimately, I hope to inspire others to live healthy, purpose driven lives that reflect their values and allow them to reach their fullest potential.
