About Shannon

Shannon Wells serves as Branch Manager of Austin at LP Global Security in Round Rock, Texas. In this role, she oversees about 18 clients and branches, managing a team that includes a lieutenant, sergeants, and officers while handling corporate events and corporate intake. With more than 10 years of experience in the security field, Shannon began her career as a guard and progressed through the ranks to sergeant, lieutenant, and her current position. She is also pursuing studies in cybersecurity engineering, driven by her passion for helping people and her love of technology. As an African American woman leading a division in a male-prevalent company, Shannon credits her success to her determination to achieve more for herself, having raised her children on her own before they launched their own careers, and her commitment to putting her all into everything she does. Outside of her professional responsibilities, she founded the Light the Night organization to raise funds for cancer patients.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Shannon

01What do you attribute your success to?

Just knowing that I always wanted more for myself. I had my kids young. I've got them started, and now they're grown with their careers. And knowing I did that by myself. The passion. I want to help people. The fact that I am an African American in a male prevalent company and I'm the only woman running a whole division myself pushes me to strive for more.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

This determination is where you want to be in life and where you see and don't let no one you know try to manipulate that and tell you you can't be something that you know that you can be. Just put your everything into it, and anything you do.
