Her Story

About Shari

I've been in my field for 40 years, starting as a commercial screen printer 41 years ago. Today I own three businesses that keep me constantly engaged. My commercial screen printing and embroidery company has two distinct programs - a direct-to-consumer division that focuses on supplying small businesses with screen printing and embroidery, and a contract division where we handle college-licensed products and large volume commercial and industrial work. We outfit companies like Colonial Roofing and serve as a procurement resource for government entities like the City of Winter Haven. Beyond the printing business, I'm the owner and director of a non-profit art organization, and I own a cultural planning consulting agency. When my cultural planning hat is on and I have to represent an architectural firm, I need to dress like a grown-up, which is quite different from my t-shirt printing business where I can walk around in jeans, t-shirts, and sneakers. I have a master's in Fine Arts from 1987, a BFA from 1985, an Associates degree, and I just earned my AICP Certificate in Cultural Planning this year in 2026. I'm constantly striving for credibility in my work. I have an insane amount of ADD, so I just need to be busy all the time. With 5 kids, 3 grandkids, and a full-time videographer on my staff, I'm definitely a busy person. I've also been a Girl Scout leader, Little League coach, and I teach art at a Western Appalachian summer camp for underprivileged kids. I belong to networking groups and I'm always looking to be considered credible in everything I do.

01What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I'm constantly striving for credibility in my work, and maybe that's personal, but I do look for to be considered credible. When I'm wearing my cultural planning hat and representing an architectural firm, I need to strive for more credibility than when I'm running my t-shirt printing business where I can be a woman walking around in jeans, t-shirts, and sneakers. I think it's important to read the room and understand that both personal recognition and brand support are equally important depending on who you're presenting to. I have an insane amount of ADD, so I just need to be busy all the time. With 5 kids, 3 grandkids, and multiple businesses, staying constantly engaged is how I operate.
