About Sharon
Sharon Litunya serves as a Business Intelligence Analyst in the retail grocery industry at Chinooks, a role she has held for approximately four months. Prior to this, she spent ten years in the tech industry at IBM, where she grew in various capacities and contributed to projects impacting millions of lives in Kenya. With a background in finance, Litunya is passionate about helping the retail and grocery sectors organize data, manage it effectively, and draw actionable insights to support better decisions. She is an active member of Toastmasters International and dedicates time to mentoring high school students on career choices, volunteering in her church to teach children, and supporting community organizations that provide furniture and food to those in need. Litunya attributes her professional success to her deep spiritual beliefs and connection with God, as well as her personal drive to approach every task with full commitment and high standards.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I'd attribute my success to two things. First is my belief, believing in the spirituality or in God. Having a close connection with Him has helped me to be the person that I am through prayer. The second is my personal drive. I love to do things with all my heart and give it my best. I go over and above on tasks, motivated to give my best whether volunteering or being paid, because that's just who I am.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be courageous and don't let gender define you. We are equally as good as the men in the room. Give the best and do the best, because at the end people don't care whether you're a woman or a man so long as you're able to give the best work. That will open doors and rooms for you.
