About Shawna
Shawna Wood is a leadership development professional specializing in coaching, speaking, and training. She is passionate about helping people walk in their purpose by increasing their leadership capability and skill sets. Shawna works one-on-one with female entrepreneurs and engages with groups of leaders in large organizations. She particularly enjoys working with emerging leaders and speaks from the stage on connection-based leadership, a relational and focused approach she has developed. After serving as executive director of a nonprofit, Shawna transitioned on August 1st to making this work her full-time focus. She is also in the process of writing a book titled Cape to Quilt, which explores how female leaders can move from feeling they must do everything alone to building community through connection-based leadership.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I think I'm tuned in to my life purpose, which is empowering others, and so every morning I get up excited about being able to do that. And that was totally different as I go through the day, right? With my kids, versus with my parents, versus with a client, versus stepping into an organization and speaking to a group. But at the end of the day, I know that I've been able to touch each of those lives and empower them to then turn around and live out their purpose.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Give yourself grace. Because learning is a long journey.
