About Shayla
Shayla Doyal is a program manager and part-time instructor in the field of information technology at North Carolina A&T State University. In this role, she teaches foundational IT courses and oversees project management efforts. She brings a diverse professional background that includes years in K-12 education, corporate positions such as at Apple, and nonprofit work. Coming from a family of educators spanning many generations, Shayla was drawn to higher education to influence students preparing to enter their careers and to pass on her knowledge with current, relevant insights from her ongoing work in the field. She takes pride in initiatives such as expanding summer camp opportunities that served approximately 500 minors on campus and streamlining longstanding processes through collaboration with data governance teams. Additionally, she contributes to her community by volunteering at events that provide school supplies to over 250 families. As a woman in the male-dominated IT and STEM fields, she notes both challenges and opportunities, including greater access to funding and grants.
