About Shelby
Shelby Rhodes is a healthcare operations professional and territory manager in the medical device industry, serving providers and clinical teams throughout Louisiana and Texas from her base in Benton, Louisiana. With more than 13 years of experience across healthcare operations, medical technology, revenue cycle management, insurance, and business leadership, she has built a diverse background that allows her to understand healthcare from both the clinical and operational perspectives. In her current role, Shelby supports physicians and healthcare teams in the adoption and implementation of innovative nondrug pain management solutions, helping improve patient care through advanced medical technology, strong provider relationships, and operational excellence. Shelby’s professional journey began in 2014 as a receptionist within a local healthcare system, where her leadership abilities quickly led to advancement through management training and the opportunity to oversee her own clinic within six months. After nearly four years in healthcare operations, she expanded her expertise by becoming a fully licensed insurance agent, gaining valuable knowledge in healthcare coverage, reimbursement, and patient financial considerations. She later returned to healthcare operations for two and a half years before transitioning into medical device sales and support. As a territory manager, Shelby works closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical staff by coordinating case support, educating teams on device technologies, managing territory growth strategies, and supporting the successful integration of therapies into clinical workflows. Shelby holds two associate degrees and is completing her Bachelor of Business Administration degree at Northwestern State University, with future plans to pursue both an MBA and Juris Doctor focused on healthcare. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society and the National Society of Leadership and Success through the Northwestern State University chapter. Shelby attributes her success to God, her husband, her children, her mom, her family, and supportive leaders who have encouraged her growth. Guided by the values of honesty, integrity, and resilience, she believes in the power of listening before speaking, building authentic relationships, and empowering young women to confidently pursue their goals without allowing others to define their story.

Ten minutes with Shelby
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to God, my husband, my children, my mom, my family, and the incredible support I have received throughout my journey. Their encouragement, guidance, and unwavering belief in me have provided the foundation and strength needed to overcome challenges, grow professionally, and continue striving for excellence. I am also grateful for having a supportive boss who has trusted my abilities, encouraged my development, and created opportunities for me to succeed. Together, these influences have shaped who I am and have played an essential role in my personal and professional achievements.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have ever received is to listen longer before speaking. Taking the time to truly understand others, consider different perspectives, and gather all the information before responding has helped me build stronger relationships, make better decisions, and communicate more effectively. This practice has reinforced the importance of patience, empathy, and thoughtful leadership in both my personal and professional life.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering my industry is to believe in themselves and take ownership of their own journey. Do not allow others to define your abilities, limit your potential, or write your story for you. Be confident in your skills, embrace opportunities for growth, and stay true to your values and goals. Your experiences, determination, and unique perspective are what shape your success, so continue to advocate for yourself and create the path you envision.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges and opportunities in my field come from navigating a rapidly evolving industry while continuing to build trust, innovation, and strong relationships. As a female leader in the medical device field, I have experienced challenges such as being taken seriously and overcoming statistical barriers that women often face in leadership roles. However, I believe these challenges can be overcome through determination, confidence, and a commitment to excellence. In an increasingly fast-paced environment, one of the greatest opportunities is the ability to create meaningful connections and maintain strong personal relationships, which remain essential for collaboration, growth, and long-term success.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are honesty, integrity, and resilience. I believe that being truthful, maintaining strong ethical principles, and staying committed through challenges are essential qualities for building trust and achieving long-term success. These values guide the way I approach my relationships, decisions, and responsibilities, helping me remain authentic, dependable, and focused on continuous growth.
