What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would encourage young women entering my industry to pursue opportunities in STEM fields and the skilled trades. I believe it is important to show girls early on that they are not limited to traditional roles and that they can thrive in areas such as construction, architecture, and historical restoration.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
In my field, I see ongoing challenges such as traditional attitudes that still limit women to office-based roles, as well as the logistical and staffing complexities involved in managing projects across the state. In addition, strict historical preservation compliance requirements demand careful attention to detail and regulatory standards, which can add further complexity to project execution. At the same time, there are meaningful opportunities in historic restoration work throughout Texas, along with a growing potential to recruit, support, and empower more women in the trades, helping to build a more diverse and skilled workforce.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life include supporting and empowering women in construction, as well as building strong networks and meaningful connections with other women in the field. I am also deeply committed to preserving historical heritage through my work, ensuring that important structures and stories are maintained for future generations. In addition, I value encouraging youth participation in STEM and the skilled trades, helping to inspire the next generation to explore diverse and rewarding career paths.
