Her Interview
Ten minutes with Sherryl
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the guidance and support of my mentor, whose advice has been instrumental in helping me grow both personally and professionally. By actively listening, learning, and applying the wisdom she shares, I have been able to make better decisions and achieve greater success. I am also grateful for the continued support of my Chamber of Commerce and the community members who engage with my work, attend my workshops, share my posts, and help me build meaningful connections with others. Their encouragement and involvement have played an important role in my journey.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have ever received is to “fake it until you make it” while remaining authentic and true to myself. I have learned the importance of listening to my inner voice, staying aligned with my values, and pursuing opportunities that bring genuine fulfillment and joy. By maintaining self-awareness and embracing growth, I am able to navigate challenges with confidence while continuing to build a meaningful and successful career.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering my industry is to be patient, persistent, and committed to their goals. Success takes time, so it is important to remain focused and dedicate yourself to mastering one area before moving on to the next. By staying consistent, embracing challenges, and continuing to grow, you can build the skills, confidence, and experience needed to achieve long-term success.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Health coaching is at a turning point. People have access to more health information than ever before, yet many still struggle with low energy, poor sleep, chronic stress, and difficulty making lasting changes. The biggest challenges facing the profession are helping people understand what health coaching actually is, standing out in an increasingly crowded wellness space, and showing that lasting health isn't created by more information; it's created through personalized guidance, behavior change, and ongoing support. As more people begin to recognize that knowledge alone isn't enough, health coaches have an important opportunity to bridge the gap between knowing what to do and successfully doing it.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are integrity, authenticity, and alignment between my words and actions. I believe in staying true to my values, finding joy in what I do, and treating others with kindness and respect. I also value having the freedom to make intentional choices, remaining curious, and continuing to ask thoughtful questions that lead to growth, understanding, and meaningful connections.
