About Sonja
Sonja Ellis serves as a Sales Consultant at Bob McCosh Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac, specializing in sales and leasing within the automotive industry. With 18 years of experience at the same dealership, she manages a large clientele of 1,700 to 2,000 customers, focusing on repeat business and referrals. Before entering the automotive field, where she was recruited and found it a strong fit, Ellis worked as an operations manager in retail at Dillard's. She belongs to the Women's Automotive Council (WAC) and draws on her experience to mentor others, including young salespeople at the dealership. Ellis advises women entering the male-dominated profession to stay committed and not let others deter them based on gender. She is also an evangelist missionary who leads a young women's Christian council and volunteers to empower women and homeless individuals through support with medication, housing, emotional development, and financial independence.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Stay with it. Don't let anybody tell you you can't do it because you're a woman in a male-dominated profession.
02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Working in a male-dominated field as a feisty woman at the top of the list with more experience than most male associates or customers.
