About Stacie

Stacie Maxwell is a respected leader in the self-storage industry with more than 26 years of experience spanning operations, marketing, training, insurance, and business development. She currently serves as Director of Insurance for SecureLease at On The Move Insurance Agency, where she helps self-storage operators maximize revenue, reduce risk, and improve tenant experiences through innovative insurance and protection solutions. Her expertise includes tenant protection programs, commercial property and liability insurance, strategic marketing, and operational improvement.

Before joining SecureLease, Stacie spent more than two decades with Universal Storage Group, progressing from property manager to Vice President of Marketing and Training. Throughout her career, she built award-winning training programs, developed employee education systems, strengthened brand consistency across multiple facilities, and created initiatives that improved team performance and customer engagement. Her leadership contributed to Universal Storage Group receiving the Inside Self Storage Best of Business Award for Best Manager Training nine times in 11 years, reflecting her dedication to developing people and creating effective learning environments.

Beyond her professional achievements, Stacie is an industry speaker, writer, and active member of the SSA Women’s Council, sharing insights on leadership, marketing, technology, and risk management within the self-storage community. Known as a creative problem solver and “fixer,” she is passionate about finding opportunities for improvement and implementing solutions that create lasting impact. Outside of work, Stacie enjoys photography, art, outdoor activities, and spending time with her family, bringing the same creativity, commitment, and leadership mindset into every aspect of her life.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my drive to improve and solve problems. I am always looking for ways to fix what isn’t working, create efficiencies, and find better solutions. I’m a natural fixer who enjoys making a positive impact.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is to embrace innovation and continuously look for ways to improve. By leveraging technology, building strategic partnerships, and creating more efficient processes, I have been able to drive growth and deliver greater value to clients and the organization.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I encourage young women entering the industry to stay solution-focused, embrace collaboration, and look for ways to improve processes. A proactive mindset and willingness to create solutions can make a meaningful impact on both teams and organizations.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest opportunities in my field are driving innovation, improving efficiency, and creating better solutions through technology. I am focused on expanding new platforms, enhancing processes, and sharing industry knowledge through writing and education.

The values most important to me are consistency, innovation, and leadership. I believe in building strong teams, creating meaningful improvements, and sharing knowledge through effective training and collaboration.
