Her Story
About Stacy
Stacy Gillis owns Advanced Video Systems, a company she runs with her husband from their home in Largo, Florida. With 43 years in the field, she specializes in video production, including shoots for clients like Raymond James, and in transferring old home movies, slides, videotapes, and photos to digital formats. Gillis earned a business degree and a film and video degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). After moving from the Baltimore area six years ago, she scaled the business down from an 8,000-square-foot facility with 23 employees to a home-based operation. She attributes her success to perseverance, recalling how her husband's encouragement during early cold calls helped her land their biggest client. Gillis is an ambassador for the Central Pinellas Chamber of Commerce and belongs to the Bluffs Business Association, the Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber, and various women's groups. As a teenager she volunteered with the Leukemia Society, and she continues to support fundraisers for human trafficking and domestic abuse causes.
