Her Interview
Ten minutes with Starr
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my willingness to continually learn, research new resources and tools, and find practical ways to improve the companies I support. I have always looked for solutions that can make a firm more efficient while also supporting the growth and success of its employees.
Not every new tool or system produces immediate results. Some require time, research, budget, implementation, training, and adjustments before the benefits become clear. I have learned to be patient and persistent throughout that process. If I believe a resource can make a meaningful difference, I am willing to put in the work to implement it, evaluate the results, and make improvements along the way.
Ultimately, I believe my success comes from looking beyond what works today and continually asking, “How can we do this better?” I take pride in finding cost-effective solutions that improve processes, support employees, and contribute to the company’s long-term growth and success.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received is to always look for the most effective and cost-efficient way to accomplish something. When considering a new tool, system, or resource, I believe it is important to research what is available, understand the company’s needs, and find the best solution that fits within its budget.
The most expensive option is not always the best option. I’ve learned to compare available resources, evaluate their value and long-term benefits, and identify solutions that provide the quality and functionality a company needs without unnecessary expense.
For me, it’s about being resourceful—finding the right tools that support the firm, improve efficiency, help employees succeed, and ultimately save the company money. Good research and thoughtful decision-making can make a significant difference to a company’s long-term success.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the industry would be to stay strong, be true to who you are, and never stop learning. Continue researching new resources, tools, and technologies that can help you grow professionally and bring value to your organization.
Don’t be afraid to explore new ideas or take on challenges, even when the results are not immediate. Stay persistent, keep moving forward, and don’t give up when something doesn’t work the first time. Every experience is an opportunity to learn and grow.
Most importantly, stay grounded in the knowledge you gain and look for ways to apply it to make a positive difference. Always be willing to ask, “How can we do this better?” and look for opportunities to improve processes, support employees, and contribute to the firm’s growth and success every day.
Believe in yourself, stay curious, and remember that your willingness to learn, adapt, and keep moving forward can take you further than you may realize.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is learning how to effectively navigate and use artificial intelligence as technology continues to evolve. Many of the software platforms and tools we use every day are incorporating AI, so it is important to understand how these new capabilities work, where they can add value, and how to use them responsibly and effectively.
At the same time, I see AI as a tremendous opportunity. Rather than viewing it simply as a challenge, I believe it can help firms become more efficient, improve processes, reduce costs, and give employees better tools to do their jobs. The key is staying informed, continuing to learn, and identifying the technology that genuinely benefits the organization.
The greatest opportunity for me personally is being part of a company’s growth and helping build systems and processes that support that growth over time. I enjoy looking at where a firm is today, identifying opportunities for improvement, and imagining where it could be five or ten years from now. Being able to contribute to that long-term success and see the results of those efforts is what excites me most.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me, both in my work and personal life, are loyalty, compassion, and respect. I believe loyalty means being dependable, committed, and standing behind the people and organizations you work with, especially when challenges arise.
Caring for others is equally important to me. I believe that taking the time to understand and support the people around you creates a stronger, more positive environment. Whether working with colleagues, employees, clients, or leadership, I try to treat people with kindness and genuine consideration.
Respect is at the foundation of how I interact with others. Everyone brings different experiences, perspectives, and strengths, and I believe those differences should be valued. I strive to communicate openly, listen to others, and treat everyone with the same level of professionalism and respect.
Ultimately, I believe that loyalty, caring for others, and respect help build trust—and trust is essential to creating strong relationships, successful teams, and a healthy workplace.
