Sue Ferrera was born and raised in San Francisco, California, where she began a lifelong love affair with storytelling, curiosity, and the beauty of everyday moments. Before becoming an author and blogger, Sue spent twenty years as a court reporter—a career that honed her attention to detail and deepened her understanding of the many stories that unfold in ordinary life.

For the past three years, Sue has been a devoted blogger on Substack, where she writes Tales of a Wayward Yogini, a heartfelt reflection on life, growth, and self-discovery. What began as a chronicle of her yoga teacher training evolved into a broader exploration of her personal journey—filled with humor, grace, and wisdom. She delights in capturing the beauty found in life’s smallest moments and encourages her readers to see the wonder woven into the everyday.

In 2021, Sue published her debut memoir, Lessons of a Wayward Yogini, fulfilling a lifelong dream of sharing her story with the world. She is currently at work on her second book, continuing to explore the themes of resilience, gratitude, and transformation that define her writing. Alongside this, Sue is developing a memoir dedicated to her mother and a children’s book inspired by her granddaughter.

Sue is married to her supportive husband, Rick, and is the proud mother of two children and two stepchildren, as well as a grandmother to one grandchild who brings endless inspiration and laughter into her life. She spends her days writing, gardening, cooking, practicing yoga, hiking, and savoring the simple joys of life—living proof that the ordinary can indeed be extraordinary.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to being willing to dream—and then having the courage to put one foot in front of the next to make those dreams real. Every step, no matter how small, has brought me closer to a life filled with purpose, creativity, and connection.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to hold on to your passion for what you do and continue to do what you love. Passion is what keeps the work authentic, joyful, and deeply fulfilling.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

To young women entering the industry, my advice is much the same—stay true to what excites you, write what appeals to your heart, and don’t be afraid to be vulnerable. Your honesty and openness will resonate more deeply than perfection ever could.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is creating an audience and learning how to “sell” myself in a way that still feels genuine. Building visibility takes time, but staying true to my voice has always been the right path forward.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Both personally and professionally, I value honesty and kindness above all else. They shape the way I write, connect, and live—anchoring me in gratitude and authenticity every step of the way.
